In my opinion Mesa Boogie and Diezel is the ultimate Tube amp ^^ they're pretty close and both look and sound AWESOME :D

Dudes - Mesa was producing unbelievably great amps before there was scooped "Metal". Tons of "roots" players I know play Mark I,II,II,IV etc. They're unbelievably versatile - go play a jazz gig one night, country gig the next, metal the next -whatever. Love them. And in my experience, they are a lot less tinkery than Marshalls, which require a lot of tech love to keep working. Mesa-Boogie amps hold up on one-nighter club gigs.

@DB73093 2 16 ohm cabs would plug into the 8 ohm sockets, when running two cabs the general rule of thumb is the ohm setting is half of one cab so two 16's equal 8

You have to see the plywood in person to appreciate how complex it is. It's not your typical hurricane window cover plywood.
@michaelgibbons82910 жыл бұрын
I"m amending my previous post. It will only cost $200 to build one 4x12 cab. That price includes plywood for cab, tolex, grill cloth, handles, corners, jackplate and jack, and all mounting screws. I didn't include the internal wiring and terminal since those are very cheap and most folks have them in their garage or basement. What is not included was the circle cutting router jig used to make a reusable jig to cut the four hole is front baffle.

LOL When he said Particle board in certain places. That just described Marshall ;-) Somebody explained to me that the particleboard has glue mixed in it and that it actually lets less sound escape out of the wood. Heck I don't make em. I guess that's why Mesa cabs are HEAVY as hell.

You say Mexicans. I say California's of a different countries heritage. Could be S American also. Does that mean less quality ? I see a lot of pride in a Mex Am workers work. You see something different? Especially in Mesa work?

Mesa can also be used for blues and rock-chrunch?
@jasper_of_puppets12 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I think the tonal differences are going to be negligible when playing live with a band and/or recording. Your amp is just gonna get mic'd on stage anyways. And when recording, mic placement and EQing will have a much more profound effect on your sound than angled vs straight cab.

I was wondering about the Mesa Boogie 2 x 12 Rectifier Cab and how large the emblem is and if the sound bounces off the emblem??? Other boogie cabs have nice small emblems.

it's interesting, I looked up the specs on a marshall 1960av and it's the exact same plywood and thickness. So if you got the exact same v30s, there's it virtually no difference between the marshalls and mesa cabs.

Sound-wise, Mesa - Marshall = Apples - Oranges But quality-wise, Mesa is just way better then these new days Marshalls.

The mesa cabs hands down far superior over marshall in tone. Have tried them both with same vintage 30's in both cabs at same time. Mesa just had more balls to it. Much bigger smoother sound. Of coarse size wise the mesa is larger than a marshall cab too, so that will make some difference i suppose.

The big thing is that Boogie cabs are made FOR Boogie amps. They are built to make the amps sound their best. Very few cabinets sound as good as a mesa cabinet when using a mesa. Basson is the only better one IMO

I started building a 4x12 using professional quality woodworking tools about a year ago. So far, I've been able to build 1 cab out of one full sheet ( which comes metric sized which equals 60"x60". 1 top, 1 bottom, 2 sides and front and rear baffle with very little waste. That sheet was under $50 and its not 18mm (3/4), it's 15mm (5/8). 3/4 would be way too heavy. The only part that gave me a headache was setting the dado blade and building the tablesaw finger joint jig. if the jig is off by even .010, the accumulated error will not let the fingers go together. I figure the whole cab will cost me about $ 350, not including speakers. Having a CNC machine would sure speed up things.

Mesa/Boogie 4x12 Rectifier Cab is $1000 or here in UK £1000. Once you take away the price of the celestions (£300) manufatcuring costs and the shippping (in bulk to keep costs down) thats £500 for a box of air once the distributors and the retailers have added their bit. I love these cabinets but..... this is power branding taking advantage of the consumers. End of.
@Turboy655 жыл бұрын
Rabbeted corners? That's not how you do it. Finger jointed is better, and is best for plywood. Dovetail joints for hardwood. But doing rabbeted joints is CHEAP and does not yield a high strength joint.
@Jimmy8726812 жыл бұрын
oke, actually it was a mistake by a "roady" or more, some fools, that build up the stage...imagine a tower mesa cabinets falling into your back.... (amp was loadet on CHEAP pallets.... (lucky, my Marshall head was standing behind the 2 cabs... one marshal, and one mesa cab...) that was the one and only in my life, till now... now i am using 1 cabinet... marshall and mesa are matching great together! marshall gives the presence ang aggressive highs,and mesa powerfull basses and mids (:

I can tell you it costs more than $200 or even pounds for materials and manufacturing. head down to your local hardware and build your own. Go and buy a sheet of marine grade QUALITY 18mm ply $100-$200, tolex $50, side handles $25, castors $25 plus, factory rent, wages, insurances, 3 phase electricity, machinery cost ( that CNC's are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars ) phone/internet not to mention the skills to build one plus they're a business they're primary goal is to make money, if they didn't they would go broke and no more Mesa Cabs then you'd be complaining they're not around anymore. You wouldn't go to work everyday for a couple of $$$ People who aren't in business have no idea what goes into running one. Plus you pay for quality period.

Ummmmm you know they buy in bulk wholesale lots of everything right? Which means it's discounted even more than regular wholesale + long term agreement discounts. So no, it does not cost them a premium retail price to make these "they're a business they're primary goal is to make money, if they didn't they would go broke"! And we can't have that can we Boogie lovers?
@sparkyguitar0058 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffparryncc1701 Ya doing so good, sold to another company so quality can go away. A company who's quality has been a question for a while. Yaaa ! But in my own reality get a older Mesa and find a GREAT repair shop. Cause Boogie's ain't built to last forever. And if you got 1 of those complex builds with stacked circuit boards and B S quality parts they build with...... Well buyer beware! And I'm so damn happy with my Boogie S O B. So I am a fan boy also. Growing up I had a picture of Mesa/ Boogie's of various artists on my wall including a poster of Boogie amp on display. Also all my equipment was bought used and is old. 80's 90's guitars, amps and pedals. Fender, Gibson, Mesa, Boss, MXR. Not to much actual NEW stuff. Unless it's free or cheap. Like someone gave me a H B Monoprice 15 watt amp cabinet without the amp part. Just a Celesion 70/80 speaker and reverb tank. Put a new Hotone Mojo Diamond (Fender Tweed) head on it and it's my best sounding practice amp. Or even small gig. Smaller, lighter and easier than Boogie in road case, Fender Twin, Lab series L5, or any of the other big heavy amps I got.
