Parker Griggs and Anthony Meier of Radio Moscow recently invaded Nashville’s High Watt to shake the rafters with their brand of trippy and powerful garage rock. They took PG through their mostly vintage, road-worn gear.
In the studio, Parker Griggs digs into his cache of vintage 6-strings by Supro, Silvertone, and Harmony, but on tour, he gets it done with his 2013 Fender American Deluxe Strat with stock N3 Noiseless single-coil pickups. The original S-1 switch broke long ago, but Griggs never used it much anyway. Griggs goes with Ernie Ball .009-gauge strings.
Anthony Meier’s No. 1 in the stage and studio is his 2004 Rickenbacker 4003. The pickup cover has been removed, but other than that, the Rick is bone stock. The Rick stays strung with D'Addario's Nickel Round Wound strings.

Played a show with these guys back in like 2011 or 2012 in Texarkana. Very cool dudes. I let Parker taste my drink, he chugged the whole thing, said that’s pretty good and walked away.

Not sure why all the negative comments. I don't know how any of the dad rockers and blues lawyers that love Hendrix or any other classic rock band could not like these guys. Anyone who has seen or heard this band knows they kick ass. Sure his rig here is noisy and messy but so was Hendrix's and most the videos of this band the guitarist plays through Orange stacks and he sounds great with them. Also, who gives a shit about the string ends. People get upset over the smallest things. I never leave string ends on my guitar but I don't care if someone does. I've seen pics of Duane Allman with his string ends wound up around his tuners and no on complained to him about it. Parker is a great guitarist, but like a lot of musicians has a hard time in interviews and can be awkward.

All you guys hatin' here are just ridiculous. Like yeah they don't have fancy gear or have to act all cool in front of people to feed their ego. They might not have high end equipment but they kick ass playing it ( I'm sure everyone who's seen them live has heard it themselvs). They play their music with lots of passion and last time I checked that's what rock music is all about.

Great episode! Radio Moscow is awesome and they seem very down-to-earth. As shy as a normal person being interviewed and having cameras pointing at you. That until they start playing, then the music speaks for themselves. Awesome rigs too, beaten and well used, carved by tours, booze and dirty stages. Rock on guys!

Isn't that the 'roadhouse' deluxe start with that little blow switch in the volume and 12" radius? (almost bought one until I realized I could get a gibson instead!) It has a preamp and the switch bypasses. If that is indeed a roadhouse.
@iagobroxado
@iagobroxado 6 жыл бұрын
It's an Am. Deluxe indeed, as he said. The switch he talks about is an S1 switch. It has no preamp. The stock pickups would have been the samarium cobalt noiseless pickups.

John literally acts the same with every band, he's not mocking them. who cares about string ends? he's gonna change them in a few days anyways. i admire this band because they don't care about their image theyre just about the music, theyre a great band if you can get past the bad/awkward interview and check these guys out your mind will be blown.

What is it with these interviewers and their fake interests. It's like patronising questions as if he is really interested lol. It's a job to ask a bunch of obvious questions. Personally the lady who did these interviews was lovely and she seemed sincere during the chats and I liked that,but the guys jeez so annoying and well over the top. What a easy job standing and asking some pointless questions to the musician. I think the musician should do these on their own because this way it would feel authentic rather than jobs worthy like news reporters grrrrrr or at least act more genuine during these conversations son the listener can enjoy these vids more often

Yeah when you play in a band with more than one guitarist that will probably be the case. In a 3-piece like Radio Moscow however I think it will be fine. Hendrix from what I've seen on footage pretty much dimed his fuzz face's (fuzz fi?) and he didn't sound too bad in live situations. Dialing the guitars volume back a bit on a fuzz face gives it clarity and parker didn't demonstrate that unfortunately.

Most people aren't good at interviews on camera. Bands want exposure so to turn it down would be silly. They need to do more to get better. Great interviewers can pull out great interviews with people. Whatever one might think of someone like Howard Stern, he does a great job pulling people out of their shells in interviews.
