Wow. I can't believe you all totally glossed over one of the most amazing features of this amp. It is voiced independently, and reconfigures itself for electric guitar, bass or acoustic guitar, with a speaker heavy enough to handle bass, so you could run a keyboard through it. I play multiple instruments, so an amp like this is wonderful, and you barely mentioned it.

This Peavey Vypyr is the Swiss Army knife of amps. I've had one for a year and still learning how to create new sounds. The speaker is big and powerful and for $200, the electronics are unbelievable. Best value for your hard earned scratch, hands down. BTW, I often jam with 4 - 6 other guys in an old barn and I am never at a loss for power...usually have to turn it down.

I know right? When I got my Vypyr 30 watt solid state, i was kinda sore. Then I upgraded to the 100 watt s.s. and was ok. But..yet I still loved it enough to upgrade to the 120watt tube head and was fucking blown away with the power, headroom, and tone of the amp. I run it daisy chained thru a Peavey Valveking 412 and an Ibanez TB412 cab and I love the tone it has. I would put this against ANY amp at of this price range. Peavey dig good on these amps. They wouldn't it get worse. Peavey ftw.

Absolutely awesome sounding amp. Only $100 for 15 watt version, $200 for 30 Watters with 4 channels. Great for practice. Tons of bang for your buck. Want one. Great demo as well.

to record with the sm57 on this amp i would imagine doesnt do justice. ive used the mic and it kinda compresses the whole sound and made my amp sound pretty different from what i hear. i would recommend using the e609, it doesnt change much and it has a fat tone to it!

Amazing that this amp sells for 200 bucks! That is the price of one guitar pedal. I don't see how they do it, even if it is made overseas. Truly amazing how these amps get that tube sound. I played the VIP 1 today and the attack was amazing. I am sure this one edges it with a bigger speaker and a little more power. I played the VIP 3 that was 100 watts and had a bunch of artist presets, but actually favored the VIP 1.

Great amp Peavey just keeps bringing it !! I have the first series Vypyr (viper) 75 watt and it is the best $300 bucks I ever spent, These things are like a $2000 guitar rig in one box, check out the tones in my various vids, I am going to look at this baby soon !!

Anybody out there remember the Peavey Transtube FX preamp? That was one wicked bad contraption & is the origin point of the Vyper amps. Wish I still had mine. You could stack up to 9 effects at once, but you only had 4 amp voicings (this was a few years before Line 6 took off).

the original vypyr is actually easy to fidle with and its a bit more complicated than this. I for one am dissapointed in the lack of user preset banks which were a big part of the vypyr.

If you go to Peavey dot com to find out more these amps are not the product/amp section. Click the NAMM 2013 link on the home page. Still no review of the Peavey Vypyr software or Vypyr community that they say in other videos you can use create/share presets. The VIP could have been made with more input from current Vypyr owners. It could be less of an all-in-one gimmick. But, nothing solid state comes close to the Vypyr's guitar tone. Absolutely the best modeling amps available.

Not enough new features or better processing for me to trade in my tube 60 or 75 watt. They didn't see on their own message board that a change users were calling for with their next update was to ditch the lame fang plastic front panel. But they were listening to the users who said they closed off the back of their first gen vypyrs.

Yeah, you can't use the looper withuot the sampera, but any pedalboard have that function :)

Why do these guys have to shred so much? OK, I'm impressed (Yawn)... Show off the other great things this amp does... For those of you looking for a great amp and a really great price, THIS IS THE AMP. The features on this are through the roof. Really easy to edit, although you need to spend some time with it. The pedal sounds are great, the effects are great, the new features are wonderful.. the 12 string sounds really nice.. This amp is way more than just a metal amp. Worth more than they ask!

There are a zillion modeling amps out there and there ten times as many that are great for shredding and metal. That's all well and good, but if someone buys an amp that can do that stuff pretty much like every other amp out there but also adds support for _acoustic_and_bass_, this extended support is a stand-out feature, So why is the demo about absolutely nothing but lead guitar stuff?

If this thing will do even half those sounds in person convincingly... that's pretty cool. I instantly started daydreaming about what I could record with that violin setting. I love my tube amps, but I could see this as a middle ground between miking my amps or using a plugin(which I hate). I couldn't believe when I looked on guitar center.com and saw that it was $199, I'll take that deal all day,especially in the midst of all this $2000 15 watt amp nonsense.

Maybe it's the recording quality, but to my ear the cleaner tones sound good while the high gain stuff sounds kind of digital. Honestly not trying to knock it; I like the features, but the lead tones just don't sound authentic to me in this demo.

I got a Blackstar ID:60 TVP for Christmas, I was pretty psyched all day yesterday, it sounds amazing at low volume but then I took over our drummer's house today to jam with another guitarist and bass playre, it sounds like donkey dick when you turn up the volume to the level you's need in a small club setting, I just got done boxing up and am sending it back, I'm sure I'm not the only one that ran into this problem that's why they're so ran B-Stock models available. The Blackstar IDs are basically overpriced $500 practice amps, these Peaveys are practice amps too but they're not overpriced.

Authentic to the amps it's emulating. "Tubey" and "good" are not one and the same. There are great sounding solid state amps out there; I just don't think this sounds great in this demo. Don't read any more into it than that.

I've got that awesome amplifier! While you guys buy that for only $300 (75watt), I can't get it for less R$ 1700,00 here in Brazilcrap! Converting the value equals for over $800. In real terms, we shouldn't convert...$300 is R$300 in the same conditions you live there. I hate Brazil in all aspects! Just a simple guitar strings costs about $20. Everything is too expensive, we've got over 40% of taxes on everything you buying, spending or living, and all we've got here in nasty! What that issue has to do about that? I don't know, just wondering...

The 6505 is too loud to practice at home and it lacks a headphone out. The 6505 also weighs nearly 100 lbs has no casters and is limited to one sound and if you like that sound fine.

gibson sgj on ebay super light and a great guitar from metal to the doors..I have one get a 2013 model the pickups are great for everything the pickups alone are normally 100 each..you can get a used one for 350 450 new they were 600..I have a sgj 2013 and a 2013 lpj and a strat

the sgj is just a plain jane sg no pickgueard or shinny varnish,,the lpj is the same a 600dllr stripped down les paul no pick guard no shinny stain no binding they are the best deals out there,,same pickups as the $$$$ 3000 customs..

Stick with it..Its fun and will get lot easier.That amp will be fine for you it sounds pretty good for the price...But after you have experience you will want a marshall or a orange..The orange micro terror is a great little amp and is about 100 bucks but you would need a speaker..
