@pipinato3 жыл бұрын
He wrote a book as a form of therapy. It was so well perceived that they wanted to make it into a TV series. Mr Q sued Chris and the production team to stop them. That's when the public found out that, weeks after his daughters death, Mr Q hired a lawyer and obtained Chris signature forfeiting any claim over Selena's imagery, music, videos in perpetuity. He "kindly" gave him 25% of the profits, though. This is the reason why you'll never see his book become a series or a movie... But you can see bits and pieces in the Selena's series.... Pretty hipocritical TBH

On the other hand, Mr Q "magnanimously" opted to give him the same share of the profits he used to give Selena (25%). She was the reason there was any profit at all and she only got 1/4... I agree, although I don’t agree much with the “No interruptions” rule, in interviews, people seem to have. I prefer natural feeling conversational interviews, in most cases people will interrupt each other to some extent, it feels laid back. Whereas one person talking at a time feels stiff. But when it’s too much, I agree it’s irritating. In this interview, the interviewer does interrupt him at times, but had good timing and clarity. So, it was pretty good. But overall, I’m also glad things seem to be normal now between Chris and the family.

He is the one who wanted to down play Selena and Chris's relationship (no surprise there). He didn't wanna include their elopement at all in the movie actually. Gregory Nava the director had to secretly talk to Chris behind Abraham's back in order to get his side of the story. This Chris VS the Quintanilla's has been going on since day 1 unfortunately. Gregory was there to make a biographical film based on facts. Purposely leaving out MAJOR life details like Selena being married was not gonna happen. Gregory had the final say in making Chris and Selena's romance the focus of the film because it was Gregory's movie. Though the Q family was involved they did not have the final say. I'm glad Gregory stood his ground and stayed faithful to the truth as much as possible. Even tho the movie still had some fiction cause you know Hollywood.

Chris got a raw deal all the way around. I don't believe Selena would have wanted her family to downplay her and Chris' love story. They should be ashamed of themselves, especially Abraham, who did nothing but exploit his own daughter the entire time.

Watching the interview... He deserved that Grammy because he fused all of those others into the song ... Musicians who inspired him and were up for the Grammy so they were actually in his song and that's why it won The Grammy.... 🙏✝️👍☺️

This interview just proves what I have been thinking for a long time, Chris Perez is a wonderful human and these days that seems to be rare unfortunately. I don't know if Chris will actually see this comment or not, I hope he does...because I want to say Thank you Chris for restoring my faith that there are actually men out there who genuinely care about other people and are not selfish and only look out for themselves. I don't know that I will ever be ready to trust someone in a relationship ever again, but if I am, I hope there is someone out there like you for me. I will always support all things Chris!

Chris speaks and carries himself with great dignity and genuine humility. Very attractive qualities not always found in entertainment-world people. It’s easy to understand why Selena fell for him and what made them a great couple. How tragic he lost her so young. My heart goes out for his pain and the long, difficult road he’s walked trying to heal. He deserves the individual success and serenity he’s achieved. He’s a good man.

It's unfortunate that no-one has explained to Chris WHY they were booing him. He singlehandedly snatched their idol crush out of their reach without any warning. It definitely can't be taken personally when you've practically won the jackpot and left them in the dust.🚀 Right? Good for you. I like the way host called you first Latino power couple. 💕

This goes to show chris is a real musician. The kid knows his stuff! He had a real musical background. I love that we got to learn a little more about him. I can’t understand why the Q family outsted him? Did they feel he was to blame for her death somehow, because he didn’t wake up that morning? Or the drug/alcohol abuse? I mean ppl mourn differently. He just said he lacked self confidence when he was a teen. I’m sure after losing his wife he fell right back into that. I’m happy he was able to get through it all.
@heatherlynsey30923 жыл бұрын
I’m sure they do, or at least Abraham does. I agree that him falling into all of that was just human nature after losing Selena in such a way. He probably didn’t want to be sober because his reality was hell 💔
@kl_nyc7183 жыл бұрын
@@heatherlynsey3092 yup. Latinos are super defensive and always try to find an answer or an “if only”. I don’t doubt for a second he was blamed for her going to the hotel alone. Chris reminds me of that high school kid who was always alone, quiet, super talented but didn’t show it until he felt extremely comfortable. This guy crumbled and came back from whatever dark place he was in. 3 years sleeping next to someone and being with them day in and day out may not overshadow the families relationship with Selena but it was just as important. I hope one day they can let him breathe and just tell his story. You can tell he wants to so bad.

In a lot less famous life, I lost my wife to Leukemia while we were 28 years old. Her family and I (unfortunately) do not get along real great. To say I understand where Chris is coming from especially emotionally when everything first happens you feel like you’re floating in a negative way. Like you’re there but not really there. I am so happy to see him doing well and is in a real good headspace. We can move forward but never forget. I’m happy he’s getting the recognition that HE deserves too.

Great interview, thank you for being so sensitive to Chris's feelings and for being so respectful to him. Not a lot of interviews that he has done has been done as well as this one. I always have seen the other interviewers try to zoom in on his face to see if he'll shed a tear. I know Chris is still going through the motions and am sure it isn't easy for him. Wow! Thank you so much for this interview. You can just tell Chris is a real one. A genuine and good hearted person. We know why Selena chose him and fought for their relationship. I can’t believe people have the nerve to be commenting negative stuff about him. No ones perfect, we all make mistakes, we’re just not in the spotlight like he was/is. Honestly, his love of music and ability to keep moving ahead despite his devastating loss is so admirable. I didn’t even know her, but sometimes her loss hits me like a ton of bricks. So I can only imagine what he went thru. I wish he was involved in that show, because us real fans who read his book know it didn’t happen like how the series portrays it. Selena would be so mad at her family for how they’ve treated him. They’re lucky she married such a chill laid back person who isn’t looking for limelight. Thank you Chris for always being honest and letting us in and letting your voice be heard. My favorite part was when he said he still hears her voice 🥺. We love you Chris and Selena always❤️

But he is so right that we all have different ways of dealing with the hard things in life. I have so much respect for him because he seems to be very self-aware and respectful of other people.
