Living in the States, I couldn't agree more with this petition and the foundation on which it stands. In the States, we have been bombarded with the study of other cultures, which is fine. The failure to have the capacity to learn more about other religions in public school systems characterizes the desire of the U.S. to maintain a certain socialist control over the citizens. I wish R.E.ACT the best with your efforts and pray you succeed!

Not only do I attend a religious high school, it is a Baptist high school. Not only is the education Biblically sound, but the atmosphere is a warm, loving place where we're more than friends, we're family. Scandalous incidents are never heard of simply because of students "being trained in the way they should go."

Good points all the way round. Looks like a good effort.

Get government out of education and all will improve.

As long as it remains unbiased and thought provoking I'm all for R.E. Classes would have a lot to cover to be fair though.

As far as "religious" (in this case Christian) education is concerned in the US, most people believe that it cannot prepare you for the real world. They are wrong. Our mathematics and English studies are advanced and prove so in statistics both county and statewide. We study the same thing everyone else studies, only with a Biblical worldview. We hold Bible classes, and in them debate evolution vs Creation, homosexuality vs man and woman, abortion vs the child's life, wine vs sobriety, etc.

Of course, these typical Bible classes are held for the mature high school students. I for one as a participant of a Christian high school (2013) am grateful for my education and can fully interact with the world and defend my faith.

I Believe "religious education" is vital and very useful IF it is taught with accuracy ... like focusing on the morality and ethics of "the 10 commandments" in society ... like depicting the "christian model" as the New Testament does, and not solely thru the History of "christianity" or "churchianity" which has majorly muddlied up what it means to be a true follower of The Christ. Where other "faiths" are involved, that would probably be left up to the curriculum.

I THINK ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS SHOULD HAVE RELIGION CLASSES!!!! IT SHOULD BE MANDITORY THAT THEY TAKE THOSE CLASSES! ITS GOOD FOR ALL SCHOOLS BESIDES "PRIVATE" SCHOOLS!!!!!

i think RE should be taken as a complimentary course, but i think it would be a good idea to learn more about other religions by people who actually know what they are talking about than taking what stereotypes people learn from media.

I have a bachelors in religious studies. I can honestly say that while I respect peoples' ability to believe in what they want, it doesn't mean I respect them on an intellectual level. This is a dreadfully broad way to talk about your movement, which is usually true for any talk of religion. If you're going to teach about religion, you'd better do it in an objective manner, which sadly, is not how most people are capable of discussing it. Good idea in theory, but SO easily corruptible.

lol religion. Bedtime stories will not help in the real world.
