When I discharged from the military (age 42) I had my own home, nice things and 24 years of superannuation saved up. I was dating a women who was 44 and literally spent her last $20, no home, still paying off her car loan and not $1 in savings. The relationship didnt last, but if we had of lived together (not married) for 6 months, she could of taken half of my assets 😮. One day when I bought a new guitar she angrily said 'you didn't tell me you were going to buy that', it really sealed the deal for me in breaking up with her.

I am Hispanic most of my cousins just get married no prenup. Probably drinking too much tequila not thinking about it. I run a business, totally different mindset . Would never go into one without a prenup just because I live in California and my parents era was way different than mine . I look around and I see divorces happening all the time. Lesson learned was when I was in high school and my uncle came over asking to borrow $100,000 because he put his trophy wife under the house deed . eight months after he was married he was divorced. Took him to the dry cleaners. A lesson I will never forget.

Divorce rates for married couples who have a prenup is significantly lower than for those without. That alone says a lot about how many are in it for the long haul vs those who are in it for what they can get out of it.

I know a young couple with a seven year old daughter that had a pre-nup when they married. The wife is actually the bread winner. This was a rebound marriage on her part after her first husband was caught cheating right after the marriage! I see them a few times a year for special occasion stuff on holidays. The wife knows I have a single son who's a few years older than her and one day she asked me what he does for a living. Can you see what's about to happen?

Spoken like a man who's never lost half of his wealth. I got cleaned out on my first marriage. I made it clear on the first or second date with my current wife that I would never risk my home or pension again. We are two completely separate financial entities. Different banks, different cell phone providers, different car insurance companies, etc. We've never had a single argument. Things are easier once money is never an issue.

A bad start is a poor contract. Why do men want other men go into the same stupid trap. It makes no sense.

Statistically speaking you will get divorced with or without a prenup. Nothing wrong with protecting the assets you worked for before you get married. Yes I trust no one in this life, the earlier you figure this out the better off you will be.

I would never marry without a prenup. You can donate to the woman of your choice if you want to but I don’t want to give any money to anyone who hates me. Cuz if you break up she will be hating you

a marriage is just a contract between two people. Only naive guys sign a contract in which the cancellation terms means that they will loose half of their wealth if the counterpart wants to cancel the contract by convinience. Dont make this agreement some kind of divine . I think guys should be given better advice before going into a very bad contract where the power balance in the relationship shifts the moment he has agreed and the marriage is a reality.

By the same frame of thinking, refusal to sign a prenup, delays intent to get divorced and wanting your spouse to be disadvantaged when you do. Otherwise, why not sign? If you're not getting a divorce, then you lose NOTHING Getting married to a western woman, particularly a college educated western woman is signing up for divorce. Prenups just offer some protection for a man when it's not his "turn" any more and she swings onto the next branch. Women initiate the vast majority of divorce Highest rate of divorce is amongst lesbian couples Lowest rate is between gay men Lesbian couples report HIGHER rates of abuse of ALL kinds and higher rates of infidelity than any other pairing Men may have been equal partners in failed relationships once upon a time. That is clearly no longer the case Add to that the distinct way the legal system favors women over men in EVERY metric, family, civil and criminal... Prenuptial is an insurance policy when your entering a crash derby... with men driving ricers and women driving construction equipment. Sure you MIGHT come out unscathed. You MIGHT win. But the odds are stacked against you, and the consequences dire if you're a man. So Prenuptial up fellows

Fully agree. I work in a big company, and everytime I are going to enter a contract for the company the ceo will know what the cancellation terms are. It is not a matter of distrust towards the counterpart. Something can happen and it is better to agree on the terms while the parties have not yet commited.
