We finally got the Hatteras project floating and moored behind my current house. From here, we will begin putting the pieces together transforming this fiberglass shell into a fully functioning sport-fishing yacht ready to sail around the world! The outside is complete and new, but we still have a lot of work for the inside and other miscellaneous tasks to make this vessel a functioning yacht. Tune in and subscribe to catch the full process here!

Just found this and subbed! I'm restoring a 1968 Hatteras 34. Sank in the Chesapeake so I took it down to the stringers like you did. I'm actually taking the 3 windows out of the front of the salon and glsssing over them. No leaks and less heat from the sun. So why did you go with acrylic instead of tempered glass? I get it's cheaper, but I'd be scared to scratches and crazing from uv exposure. Looking forward to watching the progress

Right on! I’d love to get a 34 some day as well. Truly a mini version of the 50, they look almost identical minus the size lol The acrylic is actually a lot more expensive than glass but simply put, the shape is very slightly irregular (as these were hand made frames not molded. I feared complications with a glass manufacturer and u can’t diy glass so acrylic became the only option. We covered the panes with yacht armor on the exterior so this should prevent crazing and any other issues with the material

I say put glass (acrylic) in the front you won't want to try it later if you change your mind. Beautiful work.👍

3/4” acrylic is wild. But strong as hell. Looks so freaking good. I love the look of the front 3 windows glassed in the way they are. Just makes it more modern looking.

Keep on, Keepin on! What a difference with the acrylic windows! If you do decide to remove the forward-facing solid structures and replace them with acrylic, try to make the openings as close to identical! It will be noticeable if they are different sizes! If the framing is close, go with the window sizing. The blacked-out acrylic will show minor variations!

Marinize some old truck engines? There are always some M11's getting scrapped. It would certainly take some time and patience but would make a great series of videos. Understand that marine parts and transmissions would be expensive.

@@piersa3888 idk I’m not very mechanically inclined at all. Doing something like that would be WAY over my head

Those 12v71's are bad ass engines. Nothing wrong with the old 2 strokes. Yeah modern engines are nice- but friggin expensive!
