In most cases yes. That pattern was broken when Art 310 got a rewrite. The rules for tables 310.16 through 310.20 are codified in section 310.15

In what states are u even allowed to take your own marked/highlighted/tabbed NEC Books into testing? In my state, you can’t even take your own book, they provide it at the time of testing and they’re not marked, tabbed, or highlighted in any way.

Most states do. In the states that I work and teach in (WA, MT, ID, OR) the tests are sufficiently difficult to have to rely on additional materials. @@inw-training yeah, we’re allowed to take the NFPA 70, the NASCLA Contractor’s Guide for the Business and Law parts of the test, and we’re allowed to take the NTC Yellow and Blue Books, but we can’t under any circumstance take our own NEC books. Kinda sucks considering that’s the hardest part of the test and the time constrictions suck. They also changed the qualifiers for taking the exam. Work experience is no longer considered unless you participate in state sanctioned Electrical education or a few years of an apprenticeship program or a combo of both. Before, 5 years of on-the-job experience was enough. I’m in NJ by the way and PSI does our testing.
