Stop listening to the haters dude, real pilots don't hand fly a 737 the entire journey anyways. The auto pilot is there for a reason. If you want to use it, use it. It's your channel, not theirs.. Haterz gonna hate regardless of what you do...
@MrCHRISCROSS12049 жыл бұрын
In real life if you are hand flying a plane to fl100 your co-pilot is going to look at you as you don't know what your doing. Pilots only fly the plane by hand for 3 minutes roughly, 1.5 minutes after takeoff and 1.5 minutes before landing.
@LowBudgetKiwi9 жыл бұрын
Chris Topher If you been on some of the flights I've been on, EVERY ONE was looking at the pilot as if he didn't know what he was doing :P

Just think, with the amount of automation being poured into the Dreamliner and the A350 and whatever is to come in the furure, one day we will hear over the intercom "Ugh ladies and gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking.. Does anyone know which one is the any key???"
@Therion01849 жыл бұрын
In response to someone complaining about the AP use...in reality when pilots hand fly, they have a first officer handling the radios, MCP modes, flaps, etc etc. In the sim he's doing all this by himself, so it makes sense to make more use of the automation.

I admire your honesty about being nervous when on pilots edge. You certainly dont show it when you fly, a true professional. Being an actor we all get nervous before show time its how confident you feel at the time which clearly you are. A brilliant channel dont change the way you fly for the haters. Well done.
@coma137949 жыл бұрын
Simon Skyfall Well said. That said, Matt has very little to be nervous about when flying IFR. He knows enough to get safely from A to B in the US national airspace system under IFR. Now he just has to have fun while doing it!

Wow, the ATC really adds to the video. It's always great to watch your videos when you are on Pilot Edge. Great video, Thanks Matt

Thanks again Matt. Great video. For me, it is professional to use an autopilot in a 737. It is not shocking flying nor a shocking landing, nor are you an idiot. My flying is not perfect in a 737 solo and it is helpful to see someone as accomplished as yourself not do everything perfectly every time. I learn from your actions whatever they be. I imagine a SWA pilot would have difficulty if he/she had to use a mouse in the dark flying solo with stuttering scenery LOL

Southwest gates at KSAN are at Terminal 1 East: gates 1A and 1-10. If you went left from B8 after you landed it would have been the last set of gates. The gate you parked in, gate 20, is for international flights. At 58:58, the airport on the left is Montgomery Field (KMYF), and the right is MCAS Miramar (KNKX). - A friendly San Diegan and new sim pilot that learned from your videos

Great video. That "leetest readback" was a tec-route, which are specialized routes for trips between airports in the Southern California area, with specialized routes and altitudes based on aircraft type. Been learning all about them while getting my GND certification with ZLA in VATSIM. They make for some incredibly awesome clearances/readbacks, but man are they a massive pain in the ass to give out. Awesome stuff, was fun to hear one given on PilotEdge.

I have a pilot friend who flys 777's. I asked him about auto pilot and his answer was "soon as the gear is up, the auto pilot gets turned on and then soon as gear is down the auto pilot gets turned off". Excellent videos Matt

Awesome video . Nice to see a sort of challenging approach.That traffic and night lightning was amazing. BTW I don't know why people seem to complain about you not flying manually. Well, they probably haven't watched the Boston-Washington Regional video. The departure was pretty much handlown (If I remember) and the approach, was basically a visual approach. So IMHO there's no problem in pure AP flying.

Thank you for posting this. This video is what got me interested into P3D and just aviation in general. Your videos are my favorite sim videos to watch:)
@sandraandrego37278 жыл бұрын
I agree with your comment that nothing compares to the lighting in X-Plane. Love flying into San Diego at night. In fact if it's day when I'm approaching I soon find my fingers on SHIFT K or L! Sunsets/sunrises are amazing! I remember your FJS 737 KLAX-KSAN video and how impressed you were with the lighting. If you're at KLAX in FSX at night and slew up, you can see cities up and down the coast! Wish that were the case with X-Plane. Lights pop in and out in blocks depending on how far away you are. It's like there is a 10 mile radius around the a/c and lights come on and off as they enter/exit that radius. Still think it's amazing. Each sim has its strengths and weaknesses. Keep up the entertaining videos! Your injected comments like 'that was a shocking landing' and ' five million things at once' keep me smiling throughout all your videos!

Great vid Matt, and kudos to you for flying with real ATC in US - it sounds quite nervewracking! You did a great job. Also ignore the criticism about switching on the autopilot - pilots frequently make good use of the AP, and in FS it's just you doing all the flying and the comms, so it makes total sense to let the autopilot share the workload.

Hi Matt, did you ever do any vids with the CaptainSim TriStar L-1011? It is such a great flying challenge. No GPS, its old school INS, a bare-bones flight computer that can only store 9 waypoints (!) you have to update, and with a 2nd Officer engineering station as well. The systems all seem to be quite deeply modeled on the CS version and all the instruments are so very 70's / 80's James Bond. Sure the 3D modeling has many betters, and you need to go digging for manuals and checklists, but wow what an aircraft. Would be great to see you flying it!

Matt as far as i know from the flows, i think you're supposed to fully set the fmc, then configure the MCP before getting the ATC clearance, and then make any necessary changes. This is to minimize the time beetween clearance and pushback, at least in europe, there are some airports that state that time! Nice video as always!

Just FYI, about 95% of SWA aircraft have the HUD system, and a good percentage of the fleet do have the A/T system activated. I work for them and have ridden in the cockpit on many flights. Just observing flight crews, some will hands fly for a bit while others switch to A/P after 1500ft. I'm sure it depends on their mood and current conditions. Great Vids BTW. Its fun to see how other people handle flight sims.

Flap 1 takeoff is the most popular flap setting to takeoff with in a B738, I just took a lesson at Flight Deck, and an Ex AAL Captain told me what I have just said and it especially applies with longer runways on these shorter flights because you aren't fully loaded :)
@colinboone99208 жыл бұрын
That's not the entirely the reasons, but it's a good point, the 70 ton aircraft gets past the flap 1 speed quite quickly!

To Matt, people fail to realize it's only one person(you) flying and doing atc, believe me sometimes it's hard to hand fly and talk to ATC especially if theirs alot of people flying, gotta stay focus on them and the aircraft and A/P helps ease the airspace tension, multiplayer now and you can hand fly while the other handles ATC, so to you all that judge the guy, think before you speak!

Hi Matt! Great videos as usual here! Just a quick answer: I've got a low end laptop, I got to squeeze 25 solid fps with the ngx VC in fsx, no addons except for active sky next. I'm considering the transition to P3D (given the fact that you or froogle now seem to enjoy the lockeed platform). Are my performance going to take a hit under P3D? Would you recommend the switch (I don't mind the visuals, just the solid performance for a good simulation). Thank you MAtt. Happy flying!
