Hello and hope everyone's well.
This one has been on the 'to do' list for some time, so when Paulo Ricardo's stunning new scenery for Santos Dumont came out recently, it was time to take the plunge!
The circling approach to Runway 02R at Santos Dumont is one of the most challenging in the world, with very tight turns needed to safely negotiate the mountainous terrain around the airport. The 737 is a very slippery aircraft, and keeping the speed low is the main challenge as we descend through 3000ft towards the city. Extending flaps and then landing gear, we manage to get the aircraft down to the 140kts needed to make the final tight turn round to the left, to line up with the runway for finals.
Spectacular views can be had of the city, especially during the final turn. The new scenery from Paulo Ricardo really takes centre stage in this video and is superbly detailed.
The video features uncut clips of the landing from both the cockpit and passenger perspective, so I hope people won't mind it being a bit long!
Hope you enjoy the video, and as always please feel free to like, share, comment and subscribe!
Thanks for watching :)
