So Cermakrome can't be applied to aluminium intake manifolds and fuel rails ? I asked a local shop that uses the Techline products and they said it would be fine for intake manifolds.

it does not have near the high gloss of hard chrome.

That may be, although it comes pretty close. And you can't expect hard chrome to stand up to temperatures on headers, especially racing headers.

Chrome looks great till it gets hot, where as ceramic coatings generally will take up to 1300°f without discoloring...

The discolouration of Cermakrome is due to the aluminium content becoming burnt as a result of the excess heat over extended periods of time. Even after the coating has discoloured the coating is still an effective thermal barrier to approximately 1000 degree Celsius or 1900 degrees in the Imperial

Why never use mineral spirits or wax and oil removals? How about painting motorbike cylinders..? I don't want the heat to stay in bcs it would be counterproductive - we want heat to dissipate from cylinder fins....help pls.

Why wait until the end to say this isn't available to the general public? I'm not interested in paying crazy markup for this... I'm sure China has provided something by now.

I have sampled the Chinese manufactured coatings and can tell you they are way off the mark in consistency and lasting finish

That's what it takes to apply a coating that looks as good as chrome, will stand up to high temperatures and not EVER come off. There is nothing else out there that measures up. But thanks for your comment.

It's a water-based coating, so it cleans up with water. But due to the chemical structure of the coating I certainly recommend against using it for anything that will be consumed.

Won't affect most aluminum parts that are coated with CermaKrome. It should cure just fine without any adverse effects to the part.

Agreed, aluminum is what these ctngs r based off of FFS...500°f won't hurt aluminum intakes at all! Been dealing w ctngs for 20+ years

Love how people say shit like "Will aluminum warp at 500F" Well to educate a bit. First of all it depends on the aluminum alloy used in the application. Second it depends on if you let it air cool or quenched it like a dumb ass. Quenching especially in water will almost certainly warp any type of aluminum alloy. There are a ton of other factors to consider when it comes to warp-age of something like a head. I have seen people bake heads in order to restore flatness but I almost always hear about them taking it to a professional and not doing it in the oven due to an oven not having a high enough heat range to return it to its original flatness. About the only solution at home for lack of flatness is to lap the head very carefully on granite or glass and will only work on a head that is not severely warped we are talking with in the .0015 to .03 mm range. So in conclusion if your head warps its mostly because it was already warped. A household over will probably not warp it as the sheet you place it on will reach the same temp at the same time as the head. Warping usually happens when the temp suddenly drop quickly. Mostly studying aluminum alloys used in automotive applications will help you decide as to weather or not to bake the part. But for god sake don't open the oven door let the oven cool down gradually as this will greatly diminish the risk of any warping.

I have to agree with Zenme minus the name calling. To straighten an aluminum head you need to apply opposite pressure as well as heat. Least that is the way my machine shop showed me. It was an overhead cam and I wanted the cam bores straight as well as the gasket surface. They straitened it close enough that it only took a slight shave to clean up the bottom. Also if tempering the aluminum. I understand it can be quenched. Whether it warps or not depends on where and how the temperature is applied or removed. Bike frames can be particularly tricky but are done all the time. After welding they always have to be straightened after annealing and then they are re tempered.
