@@JoeTheAwesome579 Best of luck to you! Don't fight against your card pool: keep an open mind and build according to what you opened. Synergy between cards beats big bombs every time, so don't focus just on rares/mythics, but on the staples that should make your deck: removal, evasive creatures and so on.

If it helps I watched Gavin's video to get ready for the MH3 prerelease after being out for a bit then 6 hours later was sitting across from Gavin as he mopped the floor with me. 10/10 experience.

No, not at all! I thought the same thing since I hadn't played since 2000. I got back into Magic with the Lord of the River rings prerelease. I have played in every prerelease after that. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. Always a fun weekend.

The flavour of this set is exactly what I want to see from magic! Rich worlds that feel lived-in and while they are inspired by popular fiction they still feel original and can stand on their own. I like the bat clerics most of all, such a cool archetype.

For solo PR: Would love to play an aggressive Mice deck! For 2HG PR: Bats, Birds, or Bunnies seem strong.

Thank you for the primer! My friends convinced me to attend my first pre-release since Urza's Saga and need all the prep I can find! Bloomburrow looks like a really strong AND fun set and I can't wait to see your deck - I'm rooting for R/G Expend, probably because it seems simple for my old and rusty brain :)

Bloomburrow will be my first prerelease event since getting into MTG a few months ago. The Red-Black and Red-White archetypes sound awesome and I hope I pull them, though I'm just excited to participate.

I used to play prerelease long time ago when there weren't any pack of sort (they gave u a mini box of card and 2 pack then they shifted with just six packs from a booster's box) and I really like the format! it's fun and u usually get enough value to justify the cost!

Going to play as two headed giant at our local game store. My friend is going for otters since blue/red spellslinger is his go-to. I will try to aim for white/black bats or blue/green frogs. What would compliment the spellslinger theme the most you think? Green-Red just hitting stuff isn't realy my style. :D

I'm leaning toward the various Red ones, but I might also try out Rabbits or Birds. Loving the Mice, Raccoons, and Otters. The only one that doesn't appeal to me is the rats. Dimir and I have just never gelled. It requires a different mindset than I'm able to work with.

hey gavin, I've always wondered what those little rectangle cutouts with the MTG logo on them are for in the pre-release boxes. they're alongside other tokens, but I have no clue what they do lol

I'm very curious why Vren, the Relentless does nothing with the mechanic of his tribe? All other tribes has a Legendary that something with their tribe's mechanic.

I've got a feeling it's just how rarity/card designs ended up working out. Vren is clearly trying to be a reference to relentless rats/rat colony, and it's hard to both reference those cards (thereby making tokens) and care about threshold (as tokens wouldn't hit the graveyard). I could see them putting a threshold clause on the rat token creation but that would just kinda make him worse. Curious about this too!

Man I love the concept of having frogs bounce (your permanents) for extra value, but I fear it's the weakest archetype. The aggro strategies seem to be way better in limited, so I'll probably have to go with Boros again (Valiant here seems to be easy enough to trigger), that secured me 2nd place in WOE draft last time, though I kinda like to play Azorius and Simic more usually (in constructed).. With the right cards I can see having fun with the Selesnya Rabbits though and the Orzhov Bats look to be great for midrange. But hey, the main reason I go to Pre-Release is to have fun with the cute cards playing Magic; winning would be nice, but if I can get some pretty cards I am happy, too. Also Winter (sadly not Snow) lands would rule, but of course you made them the rarest😥 Can only afford one pre-release a year, hopefully next year will see a set with the snow-supertype again.
