Yea I've gone back and forth with the vanilla look when I did that lighting mod video and it really does hold up. And it can be tweaked a bit if you want to switch it up.

I think it's also just the style of the art is so good. It's reminds me of rdr1. The graphics are in the perfect spot between real and gritty, could say comic book style art direction. Just my opinion. I love fallout series and can't wait for this release!

Yaya. I’m looking forward to not having to use performance mods but we’ll see. I was using the FPS Boost but decided to try out the 60fps mod again and… ended up installing a couple other performance mods 🤦‍♂️ That’ll probably happen after the update video cause I’ll be playing a lot.

It should be business as usual. Unless they decided to add Creations in with this update, lol. PC will most likely have issues cause of the script extender. Performance might conflict if running performance mode and DEF UI... maybe. No patch notes yet so we'll see!

Have already started a new play through on both Xbox & PS5, Vanilla on PS5 & a handful of Creation Club items on Xbox Series S. Also have the game on PC but won't play on that until mods are updated 😢 (fingers crossed). Thanks for the videos Matt, great content.

My XBSX is connected to a 1440p120hz monitor. The game runs after the next gen update in native 1440p60hz with ultra settings. Honestly, it looks perfect. No more 60 FPS mods needed.

I'm waiting to start a new playthrough on Series X when the update comes out. Already have my character planned out for it, I'm excited! No mods, so I won't have to worry about that compatibility aspect of it. I'm curious what the "performance and quality modes" will be. Hopefully we can have simultaneous 4K and 60fps, or at least dynamic resolution.

Might be something like 2k or 4K dynamic like you said at 60fps for performance and probably 4K 30fps for quality. We won't know for sure until we get patch notes, though.

I'll probably have that sometime in May. I was kind of working through some mods so I think once the update drops and I start playing more then I'm sure I'll settle on one. I think Lightweight Lighting will be in there. Hoping the update makes some of the pain points smoother when using that one (godrays, high grass areas).

I guess it's always possible they go back to it at some point, like Anniversary Edition for Skyrim. I haven't seen any chatter about graphics updates being included but we'll see!

I just tried the next-gen update on PC. Still in fast-forward as soon as fps goes over 60, and when I opened the door for the vault-tec salesman the game crashed... The FPS bug should be top priority, can't believe we're getting a next-gen update and the game is still hard locked to 60 fps

Can't really speak on PC stuff but helpful to mention that 👍 I've read before that physics can start breaking above a certain FPS on PC but don't have a way to test it. My only experience was Starfield using Geforce Now but I think I locked it at 60.

Fallout 4 on PlayStation is unplayable if you have automatron installed & pretty much all dlc settlement structures have broken textures.

It looks like some fixes with that are coming to PS5 with the update, including the purple textures with DLC. I wouldn't have a way to test since I'm on Xbox so you'll have to let us know .

It's been delayed a couple times but I think they probably pushed it a bit further to go out after the show aired once they had a date. Just a hunch. They kind of had some other things going on so it's understandable. I think it's cool that we're getting upgrades at all. Hopefully it doesn't cause too many issues on PC. We'll see on the 25th

Do you think that texture mods like Vivid Fallout and FAR Faraway Area Reform, as well as mods that disable godrays etc are going to become obsolete when the update comes out because it's going to optimize all those things for us?

Vivid Fallout still adds a lot of new textures even though it optimizes some and sharpens others. So that will always be a good one I think. As far as the other stuff, I hope so 🙏

Welcome! I have a performance mods video that may help. Some performance mods may cause issues depending on what else you are running. Might be worth waiting for the update, though, since stability fixes will be coming.

I'm pretty disappointed in what they are giving us for DLC. If I wanted enclave power armor or weapons, I could download mods for it. I was seriously hoping for an actual entire dlc quest line in a new area. The only thing good it seems we may get is a fix for the Boston fps crashing issue that has remained unfixed for 9 years now.

There is an Enclave quest but not sure how long it’ll be. Can’t beat free, though 👍You should check out the America Rising mods.

There was no mention of Creations coming to Fallout 4 but they also didn't mention that prior to the Skyrim one 🤣I think that would probably be too much in one update so if they do that it might be later, maybe even after Starfield mods. But that's just me speculating.

FPS Boost was the ticket on Series X but I heard some were having issues with it on the Series S. There are performance mods you can still use if you don't want to wait.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger Tried a few of them, either I was really messing up their placement in the load order or Mass fusion and more are just breaking. It wouldn’t surprise me if it were the latter lmao

@@whiterunguardGreg mileage can vary depending on your game save. If you’ve used that save a lot and installed/uninstalled a bunch of stuff then performance can take a hit. But Boston can cause issues regardless. Might be best to wait if you’re still having issues.

I have played Fallout 4 with a Series X, a Series S, and a Xbox1 1TB, and I hate to tell you this, but the Series S was the worst performing one, due to it overheats so easy. Simply put, get a PS5 or a Series X. My Series X is a beast and I have no problems in downtown Boston, but also I use Optimized Building Textures and Nytra's Performance Tweaks.

I don't think my load order broke when Skyrim had its update (not the Creations one 🤣) but we'll see. Good thing is that there's only 2GB so rebuilding in Fallout is easier. We'll find out soon!

Xbox mods don't use the script extender, and that's what's going to be affected the most. So most of our mods on Xbox should be safe. But just in case, turn automatic updates off and set your Xbox to offline until things get sorted out. That's what I'm going to do. Lol

Not everyone can do that 🤷‍♂ FPS Boost has its limits and there's usually always a caveat with performance mods if you don't use that. Having all that stuff baked in will always be best.

Will the update be forced, or be able to choose to accept it? I am so far into the game, settlements, companions, collectibles etc., I wouldn't consider a new play through. It works fine and looks good as is on Xbox One. I don't need anything that might break my material duplication glitch, wireless power/lighting glitch, pillar and rug glitches and the like. That would suck.

I don't think console would have issues like PC would. Just because most PC mods use the Script Extender which isn't available on console, that usually breaks when there is a new version of the game. But with any big update, there can always be some wonkiness. If you're worried then you should wait. The performance and stability fixes on the older consoles will be worth, I think

No, you won't need to re-buy Fallout 4. It's not a remaster, it's a free update.

To my understanding, you just have to own it in the same console family. Not a new release. So if you have an Xbox copy, you can still play if you have a newer Xbox. I think that italicized text in the article is kind of a "just so you know" type thing 😜

Yea performance and stability fixes are coming to those consoles as well. Just not a performance or quality mode like the newer consoles so you'll still be at 30fps max on PS4 and Xbox One. The full article is in the description with all the things. Always a possibility of mods being affected but I don't think it'll be a big deal on console as mentioned in the video but you'd want to record your list just in case. You may want to avoid performance mods just to see how the new update runs.
