I’m 5’11 135-140 pounds and I have a long wingspan and I’m 17 years old. I need to eat more I need to eat 3 meals a day and snacks but I’m always distracted I play a lot of basketball and put in a lot of work, I’m good at rebounding, defense( pretty good at blocking shots and keeping a good base, keeping up with my defender and contesting shots, can still improve a lot with more work), and for offense midrange shooting and working on my 3s they get better and better everyday and I can drive pretty well when I’m in the zone. Im confident I can make the team this year, but I really want to gain weight, i dont want my skinny-ness to effect the way the coaches view me and I don’t want to stunt my growth, hopefully I can keep growing

Hey coach! Really like the video, so imma tell you my story briefly. Basically I was raised in california but I know live in Spain. I'm in 8th grade and I maybe am going back to the US for high school. Right now I'm about 5ft 6, I'm a guard, and I train with my team 3 times a week(in Spain they don't do thra much). I also go to the gym as you said with my Dad with know about training because he worked in that, and I do the workouts controlled and eat perfectly. So is there something that you recommend me to do so I can try out and hopefully get on the team. O and also I workout by myself in the morning 4 times a week. So yeah keep up the good work man! I know I'm a bit late to the vid

Im a freshman this year, straight outta middle. I didn't made the team in my middle school years. But I know I can make the team, I've been working my but of ever since quarantine started. The eight grade coach told me that I was good and I actually improved but I'm not good enough to make the team. Our middle school ended up winning the championship. He said that the kids who made the team started playing basketball very young and I started playing when I was 11. I just wanted to say c mon lol at giannis he started playing when he was 13, and look at Joel embid he started playing at 15. And ever since he said that comment to me I used that as motivation to push me hard so I can make the team. And this year I promise you I will be on the team.
@bballcoachallen4 жыл бұрын
thats good, thats good motivation... I was told by a coach I would never play pro, but I did... If your goal is to really show up that coach and to go pro this is what you need to do... do a workout before school, go to school and do homework at lunch, so you can have less homework at home... after school lets say around 3-9pm thats roughly 6 hours out of that 6 hours finish your homework (try to get it done within 1-2 hours or less if you can... but I usually got mine done during lunch). Then have the rest of the time for Basketball, if you have a net for shooting thats great, if not do dribbling drills without a basket for hours. Then research different Basketball moves, tactics, breakdowns, basically get basketball smart. If you have the hunger to go far in Basketball you will, but without putting in time it won't happen

I’ve never played on a basketball team and I’ve been practicing for tryouts, this is for junior year of high school I was always doing other sports (track, martial arts, boxing) what do you recommend I should do. I feel nervous because i will be competing against students that have been on teams before and I don’t know if I have a chance, any advice? It would be very much appreciated.
@bballcoachallen3 жыл бұрын
be vocal and supportive of players at the tryouts... before tryouts work on shooting and ball handling... talk on defense, let your team-mates know when theres screens coming etc... you'll do great if you believe in yourself and work hard... if you dont make the team however work everyday until next year so you make the team then.... but never ever give up

I’m very good at shooting I made the girls basketball team In middle school but everyone that tried out made the team and the competition we went against went wasnt that good tbh and we won the Championship but I know it’s not gonna be as easy as middle school what else should I work on I’m 5’5 and a point guard and I want to be a better and more iq point guard
I am just a casual fan of basketball. How many kids usually try out for the varsity basketball team in an average high school?
@bballcoachallen3 жыл бұрын
anywhere from 10-20 at a small school and 40-80 at bigger schools ... My high school was 900 students and we usually had 20 who tried out... now if you go to an average school in my area (3000 students) I would assume there would be 60+ trying out and due to the increased popularity of Basketball in Canada I would assume that number would be double

What’s drills do they do in highschool tryouts?
@bballcoachallen3 жыл бұрын
different for every coach, team, age, and level... be good at defense, shooting, have a good fitness level and your do fine... most coaches will run full court running drills in tryouts to see how you can play in the full court and to test your fitness
