Preparing a Pig Pasture Seed Bed!

Typically I don't get a lot of time in the tractor seat doing tillage, but I have a small area that I would like to seed and get ready for pigs to be put on later in the year so I decided to pull out the 3-point field cultivator. Not quite as big time as the neighbors that I drive by on the way to town, but still exciting!

That did a pretty decent job. Is that honeysuckle in the pasture? We have that everywhere around here. When I'm able, I pull up patches with the loader. Are you using the pigs to clear wooded areas into grass areas?

That is honeysuckle (yuck). I've been pushing it over and pulling it out ... it is mainly a problem on the edges, but the pigs don't help much with it. I have also been doing some selective timber cutting to open it up a little more as some of the trees were at a 45º angle.

Doesn't your JD dealer have a new field cultivator. All the true JD guys would just go buy a new one! ;) He'd know that you had the disc because you'd break it and then he'd have to fix it...

Haha ... I'm not sure if the John Deere dealer has anything now! They have zero tractors on the lot for sale right now because things have been selling so well! You're probably right on the disk though ;) Although I was hoping just to take his whole rig. The John Deere 4630 and the disk together ;)
