Today we prepare our 2002 Vortec 4200 DOHC VVT Inline 6 for our 1983 Ford Fairmont Futura. Then we will install it in the car with our Billet 7875 turbo. The goal with it is to try to go 8s in the quarter mile with it with a Stock Bottom End with upgraded cams.
Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for the heads up on the VR1 oil. I noticed alot of guys also run schaffers oil but i had no idea the VR1 was alcohol friendly like schaffers. Amazon sells a case of 3 for $70, thats like $23 every 5 qt not bad at all for what you get.

Enjoyed the video as always. Thanks to you! I went & looked at a 1962 2dr Lark yesterday. He had 2 for sale...2dr & a 4dr. They weren't bad but not quite as good as I hoped. Could of made one good one out of both...but didn't want to buy both to build one. Thumbs up on your video as always👍

You can also use play dough or medaling clay to check pickup tube to pan clearance if your scrap pile isn’t as well stocked as Calvin’s.

A tip for dealing with metal shavings, if you coat the tap/bit in grease, the shavings will stick to the grease and you won't lose as many. Definitely works better for taps, but does help with bits as well.

I found over decades that engines with filters facing down to the ground like on this engine tend to last longer as they are easier to add oil to on oil changes to help get oil faster on the fresh startups. This direction also logically allows particle filtration to work better than engines with side or other angled filters as every bit counts over the life of the engine.

As smart as you guys are and as much as you work with these engines you would benefit from adding a “window “ on the chain cover similar to what Honda K-motors have to reset/replace the chain tensioner.

You have an opinion on using a parallel, electrically driven oil cooler circuit versus an inline one powered by the stock oil pump? It’s an interesting way to do it for sure. I road race and I like the idea of taking the extra plumbing off the engine pump’s load.

We normally end up modifying the pickup to match the oil pan, so it doesn't really matter where on the pan it is hitting, only that it is hitting.

Since we're all el-cheapo's deep down (some more, some less!) - if you want a pre-oiler of your own, grab a 1 or 2 gallon garden sprayer (HomeDespot brand ones work as good as any). Hack off the wand, and stuff a barb fitting in the hose. Use an adapter or modify a plug (drill/tap) to plumb in up front. Now just fill the thing up with your fav' slippery juice and pump it up! Think it cost me $15 to make mine and it works like a charm.
