A central tie in on your plumbing for an air connection would keep you from crawling under your trailer. Open all water bibs and push all the water out with compressed air. Good to go for the winter without adding any chemical to your water lines. Or, a drain line at the lowest point in the plumbing lines.

As I watch from the warmth of a suite with a forced air furnace , power, water included, big hot water tank that accomodates long, hot showers comfortable couch, blanket and a cat that likes to cuddle,I salute you! Minus 16 celsius high today in Alberta and I took full advantage of that convenience, privilege 👍🇨🇦 I enjoy your shares Jenna🐈

All the conveniences eh? Well in another sense, I salute you! Because Alberta gets SO MUCH colder than it does here, but a different kind of cold. More dry, here it is a moist cold. But your temps already sound outrageous and here they fluctuate with a lot of mild weather in the mix

You can actually use your plumbing during Winter. After running water you need to throw 2 cups of windshield washer fluid down the drain to fill the trap. This is how you take showers in a mobile home at - 40C. Insulate your water lines with pool noodles from the DollarTree.

Thanks! As always, a very informative video. I have a similar setup, 34' travel trailer on 5 acres at 6,800ft. Off grid two weeks now, and it feels like camping but I never go home, LOL. 5" of snow was great for pictures, until it melted then it was a mud festival, ordered gravel to fix that. 5 miles to pay showers and laundry, propane working great so far. Wood stove and pipe all ready when I get time to install. So glad to get out of the big city. I'm learning alot from your videos thanks so much. 🙂

If you ever have a post split like that again, you can take a 1/4" drill bit, drill in as far as you need then fill the crack with Elmer's wood glue and take a 1/4" dowel rod, pound it into the hole, cut the excess off and put a wood clamp on it tightly for a couple of days, it will be good as new!!

You don’t need to insulate the plumbing if you have it skirted in. Just put a small heater under there and u will be fine, some people even just put a lightbulb on under there and say it makes enough heat but at -40 I would use a small heater instead to be safe…

Good job, Great tutorial! Kicking the empty anti-freeze jug was a nice touch. Yeah, it's a bummer having to live in your trailer without water and it can be depressing but, it's only four months, maybe less if we get an early Spring. You are the true "Pioneer Woman". You have to get a sense of satisfaction knowing you can do all that and still be comfortable with it. I don't think the cats are worried, nary a bit. While I was out on my vacation over Thanksgiving my friend's cat would lay on the couch and watch TV. It was some Christmas show. Do you think Ramsey and Rory would do that if you had a TV. Maybe get them a little video screen for the "Catio". Lol! That's entertainment. Cheers!

@@gypsyjenna I can picture it in my head; build a couple of cat recliners for the catio, a little cat remote to change the channel on the CAT TV, a bag of sky raisins or fish flavored Doritos to keep them happy. (Would they fight over the remote?). And, of course, the remote would have to be voice activated because of the lack of opposable thumbs. Can you imagine the meowing over that? Of course, you'd have to get them little Cat I-Phones so they could call Kitty Door Dash! Baahahaha!

Great video! I’m having flashbacks😂 I never had running water either during the winter months, but what I did was I just ran my shower drain straight down out of the shower. Then I would just stand in the shower and dump the hot water over my head and wash up. Usually I dump a little hot water on the shower floor because it was cold. And when I really wanted to treat myself, I use three pots of water. Have you looked at the drain for your shower? Could you do that? That was when I had the woodstove but before that when I just had electric and propane heat, I used to just lay a towel down on the floor and I had a wash tub and I would first wash my hair down on my hands and knees then I would stand in the tub and pour water very slowly over my head and then Wash the rest of my 2000 body parts😂. You learn to take quick “showers” when you’re doing it that way. I’d always stoke the woodstove up and get it just stifling in there before I took my showers and then after a while I got some of those galvanized buckets at the dollar store and I used to just sit it on the stove and when I woke up the water would be good and hot and then I just had to add a little bit of cold water to my pots so it wasn’t too hot. It worked out better that way than heating water on my stove, which actually used up propane but after the Woodstove, I hardly used any propane at all because I cooked on the stove and everything. It’s cool to see somebody like you living this way putting an actual decent size Woodstove in their camper versus all these people trying to use cubic minis and Grizzly woodstoves and all that they’re just too small. You have to stoke them every two hours. Do you have a video about getting firewood? I’d love to see that one if you do, do you buy your firewood or do you cut your own and what chainsaws etc. do you use? No further questions lol PS - one more…you are In Nova Scotia, right? Back when I was living in my old motorhome, I actually met a girl from Nova Scotia who had an identical camper to mine. They’re super rare, so it was pretty cool to meet somebody with an identical camper which her and her husband still have actually.

Hi there Yes, NS here. As far as the wood, I don't do the cutting, just the stacking in the shed, haha. And yes, a larger airtight has been a game changer. I used to have a smaller pot belly and there was no way of keeping it a nice temp in here at all. Not sure on the shower drain, haven't investigated it. I have a very convenient place to shower in the winter months. Hope that answers some of your questions.

Im confused by people some times , ok you live in a trailer but built this structure over the roof, did all the skirting and everything to make it a home , wouldn't it have been just as much just to build a tiny home instead ? Just dont understand haveing a trailer then cementing it in place , looking at ther roof structure over your camper looks like your half way there already would walls and a floor cost as much as a trailer ? I get living in a trailer but if it doesnt move then whats the point ? Its not like you could hook up and go , you would need to remove that structure ....thats my confusion ...A tiny home would be insulated for year round water use no freezing water lines or winterizing needed ....still i do enjoy your videos just think its odd to lock your self into one spot when your home is on wheels .....
