Funny how the little things can be so satisfying. I recently ditched the tape on my bottle screws and bought some double sided velcro about 1” wide. Cut to lengths and would round the split pins it is easy to inspect and no plastic waste. Every little bit helps. Andy UK

One of my sailor friends and I talked about the noise of the cables in the mast just yesterday. He told me to use a loom or a conduit. He also said that when the noise is gone, it will be an equally uneasy feeling since you are so accustomed to it. I thought that was so funny and it kinda makes sense. The idea of sailing is to reduce the noise and listen to the wind and sails. Brave girl going up thee mast. I couldn't do it.
@TeuluTribe2 жыл бұрын
We should have put the cable in a conduit when the mast was down (silly us), we have managed to cable tie it now. Its definitely not the best fix, but it will do for now 😅 Becka is definitely braver than me too!

Hi. Loving watching u both sail. The insulation tape u use to cover Sharpe things you cud try "self amalgamating tape instead. It's very good it self sticky rubber tape. IE . Electrical,water pipes as well as fuel pipes. It does NOT perish like insulation tape Car manufacturers use it. Best place to get it is Amazon. I'd send U a roll but never know where ul be.

Guessing that you have made port in the Canaries. I do hope that you found the Atlantic rollers more boring than fearsome. It's not much of a secret that sailors prefer boring to exciting on passage! Y’all have been at this for a while now, and it shows in your confidence. At what point did you feel like sailors compared to displaced land lubbers? If my wife and I decide to do this, I’m curious what the transition time is to adapting to life on the water.
@TeuluTribe2 жыл бұрын
We are definitely more confident than we were at the start of the year! I think it was only recently we started to feel more adapted to life on the water. But I guess it depends on what kind of sailing you are doing, it’s taken us more longer to feel calmer in bigger seas compared to being in marinas/at anchor 😊

"The green wire is connected to the pink ant-freeze, and the white wire's connected to the knee bone..." Red and green anchor light? Isn't it 360° white?

It’s a tri colour and anchor light in one. Using reverse polarity- you flick the switch one way and it’s a tri colour light for sailing, and you switch it the other way and it’s an all round white anchor light

...and the green goes to the blue and the yellow goes to the brown, no, the red, maybe? Or the black has to be cut to fit into that length of.... well, etc. It's doing my head in, just listening to you. As I said once before, I think, the electrical "stuff" was so not my thing back in the day, I absolutely hated it. There's always a certain logic to it, IF you can see it. I did not. Or I was so pissed off with it all that I just told my wife SHE had the "nimble" fingers, not me, so it was obviously not my job but hers. Problem solved. And my electrical system was nothing like as sophisticated as yours. I didn't even have electric start, I had to fire the engine up by cranking up a big heavy fly wheel, and rush up the gangway into the (centre) cockpit to take charge of the wheel. It could get hairy. No, not the wheel...
