Preparing For Our New Chinchilla

Hi everyone!!
We are so excited to announce the newest addition to our Chinpals herd: welcome Finn! 🤍
(Look out for our next video which is bringing Finn home!)
Finn is a 7 year old mosaic male chinchilla who came from a follower also located in Ohio. She contacted me weeks ago explaining her situation and how she'd love for Finn to join our herd. This particular situation seemed to check all the boxes that I had been mulling over for years.
For those years, I'd said I did not want any more chinchillas, (which was and is still true haha) but there was a large part of me that wanted a white or mosaic. However, I mostly decided to adopt Finn because I wanted to give Knox a chance to bond with another. Finn is around the same age and already had a nice, affectionate personality, so I had a good feeling about the two of them.
This is also going to give me a chance to show how I would acclimate a new chinchilla to myself and our environment and to document the bonding process between Finn and Knox. It's something I've helped a lot of people with (after the several, treacherous months that were bonding Henry and Chip...) over message, but not been able to share video with of what I was describing. Hopefully their bond will be smooth and easy, but if not, of course Finn will get to enjoy his life with us in his own large cage and Knox back in his. For now though, having the cage split is going to be the easiest way to get them comfortable with each other's smells and sounds!

Last year, mid-summer our power went out, I had to sit in the car with the AC on for 4 hours with our Chin Luna, until the power came back on and the house was able to cool down.

I love your channel, I had multiple chins for years and they all lived out happy lives. I live in an apartment now and just don't have the proper room or set up for any chins sadly. How you care for your chins is pretty much how I cared for mine. I had four chinchillas and even though it's hard work I miss having them dearly. So I like to watch your videos to reminisce of my chin having days. I think your content is great and furthermore I like that you inform and show people that they are a major responsibility, they're messy, want to chew everything and aren't the type of pet that's going to cuddle with you. By doing this , and showing everything it takes to be a chinchilla owner it may stop people from getting them that have no idea how much it takes to have chins for a pets, so thank you for educating people while entertaining them. What a pretty baby! Finn has that chin mischief written all over him😊 He looks fairly small compared to the others. Is he kinda little, or is it just because you're not zoomed in and handling him? Chinchillas do take a lot of care that a lot of people don't think about or have to deal with with other pets. Even finding a vet who has any experience can be a pain. I wish sometimes that I had a couple, but fear of a supply chain collapse and not being able to get their food is a big issue. Then there's my boy. My son is severe autistic (so a lot of care needed there), and he and my last chinchilla were just the best of friends. Watching my little boy scream the chinchilla's name, then throw himself on the ground in absolutely hysterical tears when I had to tell him that Toggle Bean had died, absolutely destroyed me a second time. It's been 7 years and he's only just now starting to try and pet animals again.

You should get an emergency generator. A portable one at least. They even have solar power ones or you could go with a traditional gas powered one. An emergency generator is only a few hundred dollars. You spent more than that on the chinchillas.

im not sure where you are but im down in Florida and have 10 guinea pigs. We keep a whole case of water on the bottom of the deep freeze. placing them in a sock and putting them in the cage gives the piggies something cold to cuddle with if a hurricane knocks out the power, it might be something to look into im sure something similar could work for chinchilla's

For some reason, this Chanel and those chinchillas gives me a lot of Thomas the tank engine vibes. I mean: Henry who is the strongest and smartest of the group feels like Gordon, Knox,(who is my favorite) the cute but elsewhere kind which makes me think of Percy, Chip which idk why makes me think about James Finn, which so far, could be the new character you would see at the beginning of a new season, And of course, the most popular, the main character kind: Linus, who is litteraly Thomas.
