That emerald tiara, necklace and earrings were designed by Prince Albert and given as a gift to his wife Queen Victoria. Its so beautiful. I love emeralds.

Can you only imagine holding emeralds from a crown designed by a king, that has belonged to the royal family for nearly two centuries, and knowing, if you fumble and drop that emerald, it will shatter... I don't think I could handle that kind of pressure.

I think the royal jewels undergo restoration and treatments after every few years. I don't think the tiara will break.

I was named for Queen Victoria. My mother was a big history buff, and was especially fascinated by her. I used to love to hear her tell me about her when I was little. As a teenager, I didn't like my name. There were a lot of Jennifer's and Jessica's then. Now I'm very proud of it. Emerald is also my birthstone. So for me, this is my favorite tiara.

In 2012 I went to visit Buckingham Palace and that year’s special display was ‘All the Queen’s Diamonds’ as it was the year of her Diamond Jubilee. What can I say, they were fabulous. A special side room with tiaras, bracelets, rings, necklaces & diadems galore on black backgrounds in display cases with superb lighting that made the sparkles seem out of this world! I was mesmerised. A sight I’ll never forget. Sigh...

My favorite of the Queen's jewels that Elizabeth II wears are the diamond palm leaf brooches. They are 2 identical brooches that can be worn alone or in a pair. They can hook to form a necklace or a tiara! Hey, if you're going to invest in priceless diamond jewelry then go versatile!! Here however, the Fife tiara is my favorite... elegant and queenly.

I don't think so. They left the main branch of the Royal Family through inheritance. The Fife tiara was accepted by the Treasury in lieu of death duties and is never to be used again, the emerald tiara the same. The small diamond tiara may be from The Queen's collection, or it may be that she has a similar one. That style was very popular. She has Queen Alexandra's rather larger one, but some smaller ones as well. She has more than 30 altogether, many from Queen Mary's collection.

Actually Emeralds won't shatter, they are pretty durable overall. They are 7.5 to 8.0 on the mohs hardness scale. So her statement is misleading. But the emeralds are gorgeous!!!

As a jeweller I can say that emeralds are usually highly included which makes their resistance to breakage lower. An extremely included diamond would also be quite fragile.

The Queen wore one of those at here wedding. Because it can be changed into a necklace, it had some problems on the wedding day & actually fell apart. The Crown jeweler has to be called to fix it. You can tell in the wedding pics, cause there’s a gap in the front of the tiara that’s very slight. I’d never heard of the five tiara. As someone who collects tiaras, I’d like to add a replica of this to my collection
