I got a master's degree in cross cultures studies. And I have a special interest for philosophy and politics. a part of my world is always, languages proficiency is really important, new cultural norms, and political infighting. Sometimes political systems that the group can affect, such as a political system based on hight, or gladitorial combat. A society of hobgoblins who settle all disputes through the matriarchal council and that council is decided through appointment by the leaders. So a female member of the group can be appointed to the council. And then choose a new council woman when the party leaves for new adventure. As an example. :-)
