Visiting the school before the first day back is good for the older kids too. I often see high schoolers walking around campus to plan their route and meet their teachers. Good all around advice :)

Thanks for watching and commenting, Valentin! It was so nice meeting you in L.A. YES, of course it's good advice for high schoolers and even kids heading off for college, too! Any time a student I going to a new school for the first time, visiting the school and meeting teachers ahead of time is a great benefit to relieving a child's anxiety, no matter their age.

I agree with Valentin 4294 (below) about visiting before the first day. My school (I taught computes in grades 3 to 8 for a small independent private school) has the three orientations (one for preschoolers, elementary school and middle school and their parents a week before school starts.

A lovely video as always! I would love if you could address children’s extra curricular activities and finding a balance between proving enough opportunities and over scheduling. Especially as children get older in the elementary years. Your content is always so helpful! Thank you ♥️

Yes please! Our kindergarten teacher suggested more down time and less activities going into first grade. But while they’re busy, speech therapy, OT, and play therapy are all things that were necessary at the time. I’m hoping they’ll graduate from speech soon, like they did with OT so we’re down to only one activity per week.

Perhaps something IS WRONG with a small child, still traditionally and evolutionarily in the breastfeeding phase of life, being separated from their primary caregiver, all day, every day. Listen to that voice parents, your small child belongs with you, at home, not in school. There is time enough for school when they are the right age for it (around 7).

Here in the UK my son was starting school proper, not pre-school, age 4! He wasn't ready at all. I wish now that I had kept him home then but I was not educated enough then about home education, and of course like many families we needed two incomes to pay the bills, so 'just keep him home' was not on our radar. He was however very happily home educated from age 10 until he went into college aged 16!

In the US, most people need two incomes.

@@tereseday4060 In most cases, they don't "need two incomes. They simply value and prioritize other things higher than they value and prioritize an optimal upbringing for their young children.

@@searose6192 In CA people need 2. Women cannot usually take 7 years off from the professional work force & expect to return. Also, private school has to be paid for. That may be a priority.
@searose61922 жыл бұрын
@@tereseday4060 Why continue to live somewhere that requires you to sacrifice your children's wellbeing? Also, homeschooling is free, private school is unnecessary.
