At the end, in the end, at the beginning, in the beginning. Four problematic prepositional phrases that so many people confuse.
We use "at the end" to talk about the final part of something. For example, at the end of the corridor. At the end of the passage.
"In the end" is similar to eventually or finally - so after everything has been dealt with, talked about, decided. It means" in the final analysis."
We use "at the beginning" to talk about the start of something specific; for example, "at the beginning of party", "at the beginning of the highway".
"In the beginning" is similar to "at the start", or "at the outset".
