Max- of all the beginners Russian lessons that I have view. Your lessons seem to resonate and hold my attention. Was introduce to your videos from your friend Daria. To learn this beautiful language takes tremendous energy and effort. Lots of sacrifices as well. In the past I was hell-bent in learning grammar and its nuances. Now I just want to concentrate in listening and comprehension . This is how an child start out. Listening and more listening. Then speaking follows suit. Didn't realize how important listening skills has on my learning curve. It's the ultimate importance comparing to reading, writing, & speaking. I also think comprehension closely follows. Anyways, keep up the good work teaching Russian. You have fuel my passion to learn this most beautiful language in the world.

hi Tom, keep in mind that comparing a child's brain with that of an adult it's like comparing Mac with Windows, two systems totally different. And that's why adult immigrants who learn the language just by practising make so many mistakes when they talk.

grammar is a means to an end. at school, it is often the end. the guy talks about massive reading and speaking. if I can get around Moscow for a couple of years of course in the end I will know the city like a Muscovite. but if I have only a couple of weeks to visit it I will be better off with a map. a grammar book is the map of the language, focusing just on the map is useless, but getting around with the help of a map can save you a lot of time, especially in the beginning.

"... я могу заниматься русскый язык на работе или домой или в парке...", правильно писать - "... я могу заниматься русским языком на работе или дома, или в парке...". "... птица летет над парком...", правильно писать - "... птица летит над парком...". )))
