The country can be a crazy place with emergencies and disasters happening more frequently. It's always good to be prepared and most homesteaders are pretty prepared. This video will go over some affordable to slightly expensive water filters that most people can use.

Sounds great! Yea we have two Berkys (big one on video and smaller one). The old military saying Two is one, and one is none really goes with water. We only have 55gal water storage for rain but are thinking a few 1500gal as we can fill our currents ones on a few minutes of a downpour.

We have the life straws and one other but I can't remember what it is, it's in my hubby's bag. I'm interested in a Garmin Satellite In Reach, have you heard of them? If coms are down you can, somehow, connect it to your phone and it uses satellites to connect you to service. I'm still learning about it but thinking it might be a good thing to have.

You peaked my interest in the Garmin. I just got back from transporting the Goats and Chickens. Lost cell a few places. I have been looking at vehicle cell boosters. With going on with that crazy flooding I think what you mentioned is worth looking into. I will have to do that. We have at the home starlink satellite that I can use phone wifi calling and that works really good. I am making a video on communications as I have been without a few times now and it's a concern. Good thing is lots of solutions out there. I really need to check out that Garmin though

direct from china they sell hand pump water filters that connect to a sawyer squeeze style filter which uses a regular waterbottle screw cap. the pump and filter is 23 buks and replacment filters are 3-4 buks. its crazy how expensive so much hiking gear is. you can test the quality of any filter with a volt meter by measuring the resistance over a known length of water, basically what those disolved particulate counters do. also you can get usb bleach generators for 4 buks from china also which last forever and make bleach from salt and a usb power bank or small solar panel. everyones learning how important it is to clean dishes right now in disaster areas

do you have any links on those hand pump filters? You really peaked my interest in that USB bleach generator too. Thanks for such great info! I have seen the Hydrogen Alkaline Water Ionizer Generator Bottles from people in the office. Clean water will be power in the future I think.

I keep my filter elements in zip loc bags when not in use to prevent them from absorbing odors, chemicals etc.
