Great video. I have a few additions. They are very temperature sensitive. If it gets down to the 60’s at night I have to put a blanket over mine. They also get overheated if it gets up to the triple digits so I have a wading pool for her to cool off. They shouldn’t be left alone much at all. This is a dog who needs to be by your side 24/7 like a bodyguard. If you go traveling and leave the dog behind it won’t go well. Also, even for an experienced dog owner I recommend a professional trainer for when they are in adolescence. They have such strong guarding instincts they have to be trained what NOT to guard. They are so sensitive to your thoughts and feelings that if you get irritated with someone they will get aggressive toward that person. They have to be thoroughly trained to stand down reliably. It helps to be stronger and heavier than the dog. When mine was an adolescent, she didn’t respect people she could overpower. Now that she’s trained, it’s not an issue except I would never leave her free around children younger than teenagers. If she grew up with them maybe it would be different.

I have a 9 and a half month old female presa who just started her first heat cycle. This is what I've experienced personally. We got her at 12 weeks and socialized her right away with other dogs, people, and kids. She has been amazing with everyone and is so gentle with little kids. She might chase squirrels or Birds but the prey drive allows it. She loves playing with kids in the neighborhood and only gets suspicious when somebody is obviously suspicious, therefore she will bark rarely but in the right situation. Her name is Tyga because she is brindle and looks like a tiger. She's a big sweetheart that is very aware of her surroundings and even though she hasn't tried to attack anyone I firmly believe she would do whatever it takes if necessary. She LOVES to swim and play tug of war. She likes to eat chicken gizzards, eggs, and the occasional beef. Make sure they have a high calorie high protein dog food. I recommend bully max. It's a great dog food for dogs that have high muscle mass. My baby girl is just over 100 pounds with lean muscle at 9 1/2 months (with daily exercise). Make sure your presa knows you are the boss and when she does listen use positive reinforcement. Some people don't socialize their presas but I HIGHLY recommend doing it as much as possible. The dog needs to understand all of the different people and their personalities and I promise you if you do this she will know bad from good real quick and you won't have to worry about your dog getting taken from you because they bit somebody. SOCIALIZE YOUR PRESAS PEOPLE

The video creator knows what's up. Mine is 11 now and I basically had to train the dog as a puppy with what I call a bipolar approach. Plenty of praise and love when good, and hell on earth when bad. The dog learned to listen and know it's boundaries and ended up being the best dog I've ever had. But you have to remember they can do some damage such as to other dogs or if they get too excited while playing, easily knock someone off their feet. Great listener, protective, won't run away ever.

My first one was a australian cattle dog, before i read also a lot of stuff about dog psychology, than When the australian cattle was about 3 years old, i take another dog (a presa Canario), and most of the behavior was teach by my first dog by mimetism. For the presa canario I just teach small stuff like "wait", "seat", "come", but the good temperament was teach by my first dog.

Love this dog it's like a big pitbull when I first seen these dogs over a decade ago they was always my favorite and they will take almost any dog out there , like humans , and a great dog for protection ,and it's all how you train it, I been raising pitbulls and bullmastifs, and a few other breed's but I'm from Florida and I am up north , now but see up here we only have racoons so the dogs will rip the coon in pieces but I know down south they have wild boars and shit so they are a little bit different then up north ,I like to get a dog from the south ,and then breed it with a dog from the north because you have to think different environment totally, different, but down south they have to deal with the heat and up here snow, so you have a puppy from down south and then you have a puppy up North and breed them and they are totally different from just a puppy from one place but I love these big dogs and everything about them 💯💯

We have 4 Presas (mom and 3 of her pups). We breed them and they are an amazing and fantastic breed of dog! Ours are loving, sweet, strong, smart and have amazing temperaments (we focus heavily on temperaments as well as form and health in our program). They definitely can give you a run for your money if you are not well prepared but we start socialization, training and such at as early an age as can be realistically expected because that’s VITAL to the success of our dogs and how they get on with their families and their lives. I was a little surprised at how docile Zara (mom) is when she’s around our kids and other’s kids and other people. She’s a big baby when it comes to family and close friends and the ones we have have no concept of personal space! Lol. Definitely can be Velcro dogs. They are powerful and you absolutely must start leash training and walking them from jump because they’re liable to walk you if you don’t! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I fell in love with the breed when we got Zara. Experience with large/giant breeds is not necessarily a must but it definitely helps however, if you have a well trained dog (and a well trained human :) you should be fine!

My brother had a Presa Canario and he was the most gentle huge dog I've ever seing, it was giving to him by a friend because he was huge and he had family and the dog was very friendly and without wanting, he hurt my brother Andre when he came to visit, he was soo excited to see him he started running torse him so fast my brother Andre got soo.scare he move and crashed with the dog and the impact was so big my brother Andre flew and landed in his back. He was just soo happy to see him he did not mean to hurt him, and my brother Rafael had so many animals, chickens, rooster's, pigeons, cats etc, etc he had a big land and Scooby (that was the dogs name ) love and protected my brothers animals, he love my brother soo much that when my brother die, few month after Scooby die too, he was heart broken That's how I fell in love with Presa Canarios.💞💘💗🥰💓😘🤩 But I agree with you, Presa Canarios can be Dangerous, even when they don't mean to, I'm a small lady and I was terrified when Scooby used to run torse me he wanted to greed me and love me, but I always use to get hurt because zi was to small to contain him. But I still love Presa Canario dog because of Scooby the best dog in the world. We always missing.🙏🤩😘💓🥰💗💘💞

Thank you for your videos. It's nice to see someone making it CLEAR to have experience and knowledge of breeds. The Press Canario has had some bad reputations, bit of course we know that is because of the owner. I truly believe the owners faults and ignorance create trouble and misbehavior in dogs. Yes, people need to understand some dogs are CRAZY strong. I have a 5 year old Great Pyrenees and he's a big super strong dog, stubborn but he's a good guy. I just got an American Bulldog female puppy last week. Buh-Pah hadnt been socialized. She is only 8 months old, but she's coming along. I'll get her out of that 'Off the hop' aggression. Just have to work with her. Anyways, thanks for the videos. Take care all! 😊

We love our 2 presa girls. Half sisters and the most loyal, loving, cheeky and funny breed ever. We've rescued rottweilers for 30 years and wanted to buy a puppy as we are in our mid 50's now. We now have 4 dogs. Lol! 2 rottweilers and 2 presa's. Couldn't be happier if we tried. Like rottweilers, not a first dog to have, very stubborn when they want to be. Ours have been well sicialised so no danger of aggression. But they can be on lead if they take a dislike to some other dog or person. Dogs have great instinct. As for our home, safe is definitely how we always feel. Especially when our 11 month old presa girl sneaks in bed with me when my hubby's up before me. Lol! Moral of the story..... awesome dogs. Xx

We adopted one to get him out of Miami after an animal advocate called us about how many people were trying to get him who had been charged with dogfighting. Although it took several months to get him used to our other dog, he follows me everywhere and trusts no one. Exactly what I have been looking for. He even backs me when I get on to our halfbreed by running up on her fast all dominant-like. He's very cool indeed.

i have a 10 month old female presa. I didnt do much research because she was a gift from my sister, and only went into this knowing she would be large. This is a SUPER protective dog. I've done little to no training besides the sit stay commands, and this is truly a dog that is suspicious, wary of anyone and anything that isnt her immediate family. They stay by your side all the time, she wont even go potty outside unless she can see you, its almost endearing lol. But also not, because just getting up to pee, there is a massive doggo right on your heels and flopping down on your feet everywhere you go haha. I have 2 children, a 10 and a 6 year old, who she just loves. Gets aggressive around anyone who comes near them that she doesnt know. we're in the process of really pushing the "stay" training, just to make sure theres no incidents at a later date. I want to be able to take her out with my kids eventually. luckily the only people who visit us are regular visitors, though. Very loving towards the kids, she is still a puppy so she is learning that she cant be a lapdog to the little ones, she doesnt understand shes too heavy yet, but we'll get there! This is a VERY strong breed. I mean. She is 10 months old and i am not some tiny woman, and before implementing PROPER leash training, trying to walk her was a nightmare. She would literally drag me to my knees and then drag me across the yard several feet due to her excitement of going for a walk. I had no hope at all of bringing this dog back to me unless she chose to. It can be a little scary. That has calmed down alot in a very short amount of time, they are very smart and learn very quickly. I am still wary when walking her, because she is only getting bigger, but i have to have faith in the on going training. Big chewer too. I have gone through so many chew toys. She just tears them to shreds. Still looking for the perfect chew toy that she cant destroy with her massive jaws, if you have any ideas, let me know! We go through bones and ropes bi-weekly at the moment. Overall, this guy is spot on. This is not my first dog by far. I've had boxers and labs and shitzus etc etc. But this is still a very very new experience and i would DEFINATELY make sure you research your ass off before getting one of these. A fantastic, loving, loyal, and fun dog, but a lot of work and proper training is needed from day 1, trust me.

Never had any issues while bringing up the Mastiffs with our 5yr old walking them on a loose lead regardless of other dogs and people around. Had literally been a coin flip between a Presa and Mastiff at the time. Now our female is going blind we are looking for a dog to bring up with her guidance. As I work away a protection breed is a must for my wife and daughters at home. In the past the Mastiffs and GS were a deterrent just with people looking at them regardless of them being big huggers

Much easier to train than a Cane Corso which I had before. She is a great dog. My neighbors ask me how I trained her to walk so well. It was natural. These are strong willed dogs. They can't be disciplined by force. If you try and smack them on the nose or rear they take it as playing. You must consistently train them. Lived with multiple presa and they are definently naturally guarded towards strangers and will growl at them without any training. I have seen no attacks or attempts to attack. One dog ran and hid when a person ignored the growling and approached. I do believe the dogs would defend their "pack" though. This guardedness did not extend to children or to other dogs with whom they would happily play with, although they tend to favor a rougher type of play that may be too much for many dogs. They are also very devoted to their master and pack and will do just about anything to guard them and loves being nearby to be able to do this. Build tends to be quite muscular and their appearance can be frightening. As with many larger breeds they tend to enjoy sleeping or lazying about a lot but they will also happily release bursts of energy when let off the leash or when playing with other dogs. Very food oriented which can be used for training but also tends to drool quite a bit. They are also very water oriented (drinking) which is a little strange. As the video explains, definently not for first time owners, insecure persons and you need to be physically fit to handle a dog of this size. They are also very similar to the Cane Corso both in appearance and behaviour.

My friend got one, never seen such a puppy. This tiny guy was growling at me from the start. When I pet him he huffed and pulled away hunched in the corner hiding his head. Came back around a few months later now he's a big boy, very suspicious amd kinda a bad boy but I've been socializing him and he already switched to acceptance in a day.

Good explanation, this breed is very protective especially towards the owner and its home. They will warm up to certain people but always be weary and introduce with a muzzle, other than that they are awesome dogs... Also they or mine doesn't do well alone so do your best to be around as much as possible because they can destroy things very fast when they are bored.

They can also sense fear in people somewhat like a horse does and it will put them on edge... Really do your research, mine is a bit on the aggressive side but somehow she knew family right from a pup and is fine with them, most other people when they come around I have to muzzle her or in some cases if they are scared put her away totally. Jm02!

Gorgeous dogs! My neighbor has a pair but unfortunately he is a very young guy and bought them because he thinks there cool. He has absolutely no control of his dogs. But that doesn’t change my opinion of the dogs because of one careless owner, amazing dogs.

I got slightly lucky. I got a “lab” off Craigslist. Took him to the vet he’s a presa. He’s smart and stubborn but he’s got a good temper. He loves other dog and is a little weary of new people until he sees me or my girl interacting friendly with them.

I have a rescue dog, she is supposed to be a German shepherd mastiff mix. I’ve been questioning her breed but afraid of a dna test ... she is highly leash reactive. She has barrier (fence) reactivity. We do not take this lightly, we have a behavior based trainer and we are working diligently with her. I am a fan of various mastiff breads but happened upon this bread and this feels like it is her. She is great and even loves dogs off leash in my yard and at the trainers. I have never felt comfortable bringing her to a dog park. Suggestions?? She’s great with our kids, small dog and cat.

Strong-willed and stubborn are synonymous, but I used both to describe my Rotties. They assume dominance. Socializing during the first 2 years is huge. Exposing them to people, dogs and taking them everywhere helps. I’m speaking of Rotties, so I’m not necessarily talking about a Presa. For big, strong dogs, however, consider a Herm Sprenger prong collar. I HIGHLY suggest being a pretty big, strong person. Training goes a long way, but dogs sometimes just lunge when on the leash... and sometimes when you’re not ready.
