Tip I found for presentations: Go second. The first person sets the example. The last person has all eyes on them. So if you go second everyone (except the first person) will be worrying about their speech thing and if it’s as good as the first person. No one will pay attention to you. It is amazing

The thing is everyone does this so it’s just a struggle of “I don’t wanna go first you go first” “But I only have the notes to present the summary” “Take my notes then” “I can’t read this” *insert more arguing about who goes first* Yeah this happened for a debate unit in my English class

“Speak louder I can’t hear you” WAS MY WHOLE FREAKING CLASS True Story: I was getting fed up with it because it was my history class, and in that class we had to do a lot of presentations. So one day I brought a megaphone and hid it behind my back. I started mumbling and the class yelled at me to speak louder. I whipped out my megaphone, leaned my head out into the front row, and yelled into the megaphone, “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?” I got detention, but it was worth it. 😂

I remember in Middle School, my theatre teacher wanted me to do an improv about something and when I was in front of the class about to do the improv, I froze and a couple seconds later I said to the teacher “How do I do this?” And I was embarrassed for the rest of the day. Also I realized I had stage fright then, but I still stayed in theatre and I grew out of stage fright.

People automatically, instinctively say "um" and "uh" to seem nonaggresive or defuse a situation. The less you say "um" the more hostile you sound. That's why i telling you not to say "um" is stupid.

@Royal Swayne That may be true, but I think that in a professional setting it’s probably a bad thing to do. It makes you look nervous and unprofessional. From what I can tell (I haven’t entered the workforce yet, so correct me if I’m wrong), there are lots of jobs, especially office jobs, where you have to present very often. I think teachers do have the right intentions when they try to teach you these things.

@Bee Phoenix Yeah... honestly I think that there aren’t a lot of teachers who teach this well. Often either they’re too harsh, like you said, or too vague. At one of the schools I went to it was almost painful to watch. Everybody was putting paragraphs on their slides and then when a teacher introduced a word limit, there were just clumps of random words that didn’t make sense. It’s a bit frustrating to see such an important skill being poorly taught. Although I stand by what I said that most teachers probably have at least somewhat good intentions, that doesn’t change that many teachers just can’t seem to teach it well, and it seems like yours certainly didn’t. I’m not trying to justify bad teaching, though I’m sorry it looked that way.

My group in these kinds of presentations consists of Me: The leader who does 85% of the work My Bff: The great actress in our group that's also good for speaking and is lucky cause I always pick her 1st in whatever group we do My best friend: The person who does the rest of the work. A random boi: The boy who tries his best and is improving by like 2% each year Another random boi: The person my brain chose for some reason and can memorize two phrases in an hour A roblox player girl: Tries her best but gets distracted 95% of the time The worst girl I got stuck with because noone chose her: The distraction of the group that does nothing good and never does something good but pull our whole group down.

I'm usually either: A) the person who does damn near everything 😰 B) the person who contributes moderately 😅 C) the person who is ignored or barely tolerated (and THAT'S because my group members are usually these super-tight clique girls who refuse to work with me since I'm not "in the squad") 😒
@jXded.
@jXded. 7 жыл бұрын
Alexandria Hunt I've worked with the group that ignored you because you weren't in their squad before. I was quiet, and did practically all the work while they literally talked about how they thought that this boy in my class is cute. I tuned them out for the most part, but I paused and decided to hear what they were saying. It was somewhere in between, "Oooh, I bet he's a good kisser😏." or, "I totally agree, his lips look really soft😍😘..." and let's not forget the whole, "OMG HE'S LOOKING OVER HERE!!! DO I LOOK HOT RIGHT NOW😱??" I've never had the sudden urge to stab someone with a pencil that strongly. But dear lord they were really annoying!!
@alexandriahunt6058
@alexandriahunt6058 7 жыл бұрын
That one Introvert I've had two instances where I was ignored. Both times, I fought the urge to stab everyone with a pencil ✏👤 I'm in college, it's my freshman year, so I explained to my group members that I live at home, do NOT have my own car and CANNOT drive *and* my mother needs the family car to get to work, so if we wanted to meet up, they would have to let me know AHEAD OF TIME. I *cannot* tell you how many times I got the text, "Hey, we're meeting in the library today! 😊 Where are you?" They would get SO PISSED OFF when I didn't show up to meetings. I still did my part of the work though 😗 I would email it to them from my laptop. The other time (this was a different class) I was straight-up IGNORED 😑💢 I would try to talk to them in class when our teacher allowed us but I always just told, "Oh, hold on," and then they never got back to me. I was SO LOST with that group project. I remember at one point I was texting/emailing everyone what it was I was supposed to do and nobody replied. They ONLY acknowledged my existence if the teacher was nearby (AFTER I complained to the teacher about being ignored). Oh! and the best part is, only ONE GIRL decided I should at least be kept in the loop, so after everything was discussed, she would come to me and be all, "We decided to do {this} so you do {that}, okay? Thanks 😸" By the grace of God, we got passing grades on those projects 😰 but every time I see those girls in the hallway, I flip them off 😈

My friend has a _bundle_ of amazing presentation stories! Here is one of my favorites One time my friend, let’s call her Valentine, had to make an essay. So, like any standard person, she made the whole thing comic sans. Her teacher refused to let her present until she changed the font. He also gave Valentine another, glorious option. She chose that one, the three page essay on why she should be allowed to use comic sans. But oh no, she didn’t stop there. She made a *five page essay on why she should use comic sans, even showing examples at the end.* The true madlad of my friends.

Just last year, I was doing a group project. I'll make up some names: Kat - The girl who instantly acts like the leader. O - That one kid who just agrees with whatever Kat says. Me - The one who is constantly ignored. Frigga - The kid who's a week behind. We were making models for portables, and Kat and O would constantly say things like, "Okay, Swirl, Frigga, go and uh.. Make a presentation. We'll work on the model!" Aka, "We'll do the fun parts while you losers have to do all the lame stuff. :]" They ended up not letting us do anything fun at all. In fact, I asked if I could take turns on painting the portable, but Kat said, "No it's fine, we're almost done." She said that again after a full week of painting. -.-

Our teacher will deduct our marks if we put too much words in our PowerPoint. We could only put about one or two short points in one page so we usually print out the script for us to read while presenting. But some teachers gave us zero marks if we use scripts so we have to recite everything, or just be creative and thing of something to say while looking at the PowerPoint because we didn’t prepare enough(;´༎ຶV༎ຶ`)

But if *Potato Squad* keeps presenting just alone with that teacher, that anxiety you have to present will never go away. I do many presentations, and each one I get anxiety, but over time you just get used to it. Who cares if the kids whisper behind your back, as long as you just get it done, over with, and have a good grade on it! :)

I remember one time, for Health Education, the class was was segregated for one of the lessons. I forgot what it was, but guys and girls were put in separate classrooms. We had to do a presentation, solo, and I was the shy kid. Every other guy in that class were athletes or jocks, and the girls were usually the ones to start conversation with me cuz they thought a shy guy was "best friend material". So, being said shy kid, I was borderline having a panic attack when I went up there. A dude I never really talked to noticed and tried to help by saying, "You'll be fine. Just imagine everyone's naked!" Everyone laughed. I understand that he was trying to lighten the mood to help me get comfortable, but me being the mindfart and poster child for condom commercials that I was, I blurted out "I'm gay." The presentation was a depressing sight to behold but I ended making friends with most of the guys in the class. Apparently, they thought that it was a brave move to admit that I was attracted to men rather than invision them, all guys in a class including the teacher, in their birthday suits.

I once did a group project that was originally meant to be a "partner project." But since one girl was absent the day we chose partners, my friend and I were the lucky people that got to work with her (yay). Let me tell you, she was WORSE than the people who didn't do anything and the people who didn't even show up! She would ACT like she was working, but as we were doing research on Red Kangaroos, she would just find funny videos and show them to my friend. Both of us got pretty annoyed, because she was just distracting. So when it was time for presentations, we didn't even have the project done yet! Luckily, my teacher didn't tolerate these kinds of people, so he understood why we didn't get it done. But even when we finally finished it, we didn't have to present it because it was already the end of the year...................I still aced that class (plus he was my favorite teacher of the year)

TheMightyPancake Literally today we were working on something since an author was coming to school. We had to do a movie poster for the book we did summer reading on. On the first day we worked on it, yesterday, we didn't even have anything on our rough draft. And half the time the other kids were joking around, and one of them seems to hate me. At one point today, h tried making his own for a bit. Not a draft. I am glad we put our names where no one would see them when hung up

My Dad teaches a class at Phoenix University, and When he grades group assignments, he grades each group member individually, based on how much work they did and how much effort they put into the work they were given. He knows that too many schools give the entire group one grade if the project is good, and that sucks, especially for those in the group that actually did the work, vs the ones who didn't. He is fair in grading and if you did little-to-no work on the project, he doesn't give you a grade that will affect the whole group's GPA. In my opinion, more schools/teachers should use this method when grading group projects.

I was doing a presentation with two classmates, and they did almost 0 work. I probably did like 95% of it. The worst part about it was that by the last day before the presentation, we still had to do a slide that required each of us to write an opinion, and they said that they didn't have computers at home. THEY COULD'VE JUST USED THEIR PHONES!

Something similar happened to me. We had 2 partners that we got to chose, but since I didn't know anyone with me being introvert, the teacher gave me partners. They were lazy fucks. I did the project, but I didn't come for presentation day. We kept out projects at the school so they had to present it. We barely passed

We were doing presentations of book reports in my AP Literature class in 12th grade. I had done mine on A Clockwork Orange while other students had done normal person books such as Of Mice and Men and Breakfast at Tiffany's. So, I was nervous because of the subject material of my book (crime, rape, dystopian elements, Alex's weird self-invented language) was complex and I felt I hadn't done the book justice in explaining it. So when time came to present... I broke down and cried in front of everyone. My teacher had to continue my summary. Luckily, she was cool about it and understood.

An annoying thing that our teachers made us do when we did presentations is adding animations to the text. Now the actual animating part was fun because well you just had to choose which animation you want and boom you’re done, but when your actually doing the presentation you have to sit in this silence and keep clicking the space bar until all the sentences or whatever it is that you wrote on the board thing show up which is just so awkward because of the dead silence and sometimes you would accidentally click too many times which leads to you skipping a slide

If you need advice on presentations then listen to this 1. Try to be the middle or first person to do the presentation because at the end of your presentation if it was bad people will forget about it probably 2.dont panic take deep breaths because if you panic your presentation will be bad and you will panic more 3.try to imagine your presentation is the best out of the class because if you do you won't be as scared as to what people are going to say or think of you 4.ask the teacher if you could just do the presentation to her/him 5.skip the day you do the presentation

Nah you should think that you are gonna utterly fail the presentation. Its better to set your expectations low, cause if you fuck up and you will, it will help you not give a shit and just move on. And when you do that you loose all the tension and actually perform better cause you didn't have to worry about keeping up with the expectation that you need to do great

I remember the time when I had 3 other people in my group for a presentation in math and I freaking HATED working with them so my teacher went and just allowed me to do it by myself. I ended up getting extra credit for presenting after school.

i know this is an old video, but if any anxious kids are watching this know that pretty much all the class isn't even listening to you i know it's kinda harsh to say, but as a really anxious kid in high school, knowing that nobody was paying attention besides the teacher really helped me. they don't care if you mess up or stumble your words, they're legit just staring at you with nothing going on behind those eyes.

I told this story before so I’m going to shorten it a lot. One of my friends is a genius but he’s also cool, whenever there was a project you would choose to have a group of 2 or work alone. I normally work alone just because I don’t like people honestly I work good alone. Well my friend decided to group with me and I thought Fuuuuck he’s my friend I have to say yes. So while working he finished like 75% of the 3 day project I felt so bad that I did jack shit. So I went to apologize and he said “It’s fine your the first person who actually tried doing work.” I was just like ... WHAT!?! After that we became good friend’s.
