I use a wild grape leaf to keep fermented cucumbers crisp. I place it on top and then add the weight. I recently found a jar of 2-year-old cucumber ferment that I forgot about in the back of my fridge, and it was the most delicious cucumber I ever had -- and it was still crisp! Luv these chats.

Another way to safely defrost meat is to put frozen meat into cold water enough to cover it. I use a cooler to do this. Change the water every 30 minutes. Takes about 2 hours with changing the water 4 times.

Can I use a Sun Oven or my Yedi Air Fryer for dehydrating or do I need to get a specific dehydrator??

I made cherry pie filling a week ago today, I used the ball canning recipe, it sealed beautifully. It’s been in the fridge since, seal is still good. I used cornstarch. Is it safe to use for a pie today 5/25/2024?

I HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS A 25 LB BAG OF BROWN SUGAR THAT HAS TURNED IN A BRICK. IS THERE ANY WAY TO SOFTEN IT UP?

some ways to soften brown sugar: Microwave Put a piece of hard brown sugar in a microwave-safe bowl and cover it with a damp paper towel. Microwave in 20-second increments on high, breaking up any clumps with a fork in between. Be careful not to let the sugar melt, or it will harden into caramel when it cools. Bread Put a slice of bread in a bowl with the brown sugar and cover it tightly with plastic wrap. Let it sit for at least four hours, or ideally overnight. Oven Heat the brown sugar in a low oven and stir it every few minutes until it softens. Food processor Pulse the brown sugar in a food processor until the clumps break apart
