[Preserved] Ex-Westrans Altona #83 Mercedes Benz O405 (Volgren)

In this video we take a ride on ex-Westrans Altona #83, which is a 1994 Mercedes Benz O405 with a Volgren body. This bus originally entered service at Westrans' Altona depot as bus #83 before ownership passed onto CDC Victoria. It was renumbered to #183 when the former Westrans Altona and Werribee depots merged into the new CDC Wyndham depot. This bus was withdrawn under CDC and was later snapped up by passionate owner Steve Bayer for preservation.
This video was recorded on a Bus & Coach Society of Victoria's tour to Ryans and Moonee Valley Bus Lines on the 25th June 2022. Since filming this video Steve has fully restored the Westrans signwriting on the side of the bus and has given the bus its former fleet number on the front fender.

Last time I rode one of these buses was 3 years ago in Wallan. I believe it was ex Kastoria Bus Lines number 5 which was brought second hand to Seymour Coaches to act as a spare route bus for the Mitchell Transit routes and was numbered as K5 at the time but it was sold to someone else who converted to a motorhome in 2022 last I heard.
