Zone 6b here north of Lexington, KY. I've had the same problem as you with losing garlic. I do mince or slice, then freeze dry for tossing into soups, but have never thought of the paste bombs! Awesome idea to salvage the rest of my harvested bulbs! Just discovered your channel looking for info on winter crops to plant in a high tunnel. We are converting a cattle panel hoop so husband asked me how soon do you need it? Based on your video about growing year round, that's now. He's gonna be delighted 😂😂

I love the size of that elephant garlic. Think I will try growing some this year. Your garlic Confit looks delish. Great minds think the same because last week I Sous Vide a quart of garlic (and garlic infused oil). Sorry I didn’t grow my garlic. I did the next best thing I got it from my local produce store. I got my Azure order today. So I will be busy processing 20 lbs of Apples, 10 lbs of onions and 10 lbs of carrots. It’s gonna be a busy weekend and I love it. And I really love watching my Pantry/hall closet fill up. I give all Thanks to God🙏🏾Have a Blessed Weekend. Ms J and Sophie

@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead Hey Barbara and Happy Saturday. I processed the 10lbs of carrots today. I Pressure canned 8 Pints and put 2 packages (16 oz each) in the freezer. I made Apple Pie filling with half of my apples. I made enough Pie filling for 5 personal size Apple Pies. Tomorrow I will work up the rest of the apples and make Apple Sauce for me and, dehydrate some for Sophie's treats. I will work on the Onions on Monday. Half will be dehydrated for Onion Powder, half will be sliced and put in the freezer and, I will keep a few in the fridge for making Onion Rings. I did manage to film my processing day so I will upload it to my channel one day next week......AFTER the Election!! It's been a long day ~ time for a nice glass of wine, put my feet up and relax with Sophie. 😊🐶

@@TRTGCbyjroed wow you got a lot done and good plans to finish. Question-my dogs can eat plain dehydrated apples? I have never canned carrots because I would not think I would like them that way but maybe I should try it.
@TRTGCbyjroed
@TRTGCbyjroed Ай бұрын
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead YES Sophie loves dehydrated apples. Try dehydrating a few apples and I bet your dogs will love them because they are a sweet chewy treat. I love having carrots on my pantry shelf ready to eat. I put them in my stir frys, chicken pot pies, beef stews or just serve as a seasoned side dishes. I put carrots is Sophie's food also and she loves them too. FYI - the carrots are completely cooked after Pressure Canning so, I just add them to my dishes at the end of the cook. I have carrots growing in my GreenStalk again this year. I am praying for a successful growing season and HARVEST..

I love how animated you get when you're passionate about something! The reason i font grow elephant garlic is exactly the readon uiu stated - not much flavor. I froze most of my garlic in individual cloves. Thats what i feelnis most convenient for me. I also dehydrated a bunch so thatvi can make garlic powder, which tastes PHENOMENAL! I don't plan to buy garlic powder ever again!
