To play the devil's advocate here, I think this is why Kal shouldn't be the new host: he's too close, too comfortable with the powers that be, too beholden to speak truth to power.
@Kov89

I enjoyed what I've seen from Kal so far, but this interview shows why he has no business hosting. It was so uncomfortably jovial it reminded me of Hungarian public media. The Daily Show had always been left-leaning, but leaning to the left is one thing, putting a former Democrat White House aide behind the desk permanently is another. He regressed back into this polite, timid, inoffensive attitude you expect from a subordinate, and I mean going beyond the obvious respect for the person and the office. Nothing even slightly challenging here. I don't watch the Daily Show for this. I hope Hasan gets the job, he was the best so far. I'd love to see him interviewing Biden, actually.

When I was in the military, I worked at Walter Reed, which used to be in Washington DC off of seventh Avenue but now it’s in Bethesda MD. Joe Biden was a senator at the time and he would come to the hospital all the time to visit injured soldiers, and he would just stop in peoples offices and just talk to people, And if you told him something about your parents or a family member the next time he saw you he would ask you about them. I know people have a lot of negative stuff to say about Joe Biden, but he is easily one of the nicest most genuine people that I met during my entire time in the military.

When it _should_ be adversarial. Nobody needs more information of any kind to "get to the bottom" of the Jan 6 insurrection. It happened live on TV. Trump's phone call was published a few days later. *Jan 6 is an open and shut case.* Has been for more than two years. *The Biden administration is abetting elite criminal impunity.* The "justice is coming formula" is VERY simple. 1) Some institution sends a subpoena, starts "investigating" or makes some other alibi move *that inflicts no damage on Trump and his inner circle.* 2) Giant *propaganda push* to convince the public this is proof that "something BIG" is about to go down THIS time. Always the same kind of people pushing this. 3) Another Trump social media post, tantrum, meltdown is for the umpteenth time cited as proof that "it is getting to him." 4) Nothing comes of it, suckers go home. Great interview by Kal here. You can tell they have a comfortable history/acquaintanceship/friendship. 4:55 sad part about this is the newest data suggests it's already too late to stop from going over 1.5. I've seen a couple articles suggesting we might be able to aim for 2 or 2.2 if we make major changes right now but, big surprise, nobody's doing anything

Relating to the student debt decision, I was originally one of the ones laughing and joking as I asked for free money... wasnt until an assignment led me to write a solid research question that I looked into it. I stand by that decision he made. Looking at the numbers and severe spike in tuition, I hope he also does something to lower it or to start the ball to lower it.

@@anahata2009 Biden was the one with the "soul of America" message that most effectively communicated why the Trump presidency was so foul. Biden was the one who had earned the trust of the (relatively conservative) Black voters in South Carolina, including widely respected leaders like Jim Clyburn. Biden was the one with the government experience to rebuild the executive branch institutions like the CDC and DOJ that were decimated by Trump's "deconstruction of the Administrative state," as Steve Bannon calls it. Biden was the one with the relationships in Congress that have earned trust on both sides of the aisle despite partisan polarization. Biden was the one who was least vulnerable to accusations of corruption (any Democratic president would have faced something like the Hunter laptop, but Joe Biden has a long reputation of being honest). Depending on your legislative priorities, there were other candidates that might speak to them more directly. I thought Kamala Harris was a particularly effective partisan warrior in the Judiciary Committee. I thought Julian Castro had the best plan for immigration. I thought Elizabeth Warren had the best approach to economic policy. But when Jim Clyburn endorsed Biden, and then when Biden gave his speech at Gettysburg during the campaign, I became convinced that Joe Biden was the best candidate to repair the Trump devastation and unify the country.

The word, "Two." Was a stand-in for the word, "second," and instead of making a sympathetic analysis for individuals who with all due respect are in the position of privilege...I stand uncorrected. Because the responsibility of the United States should full to all US citizens just like in white supremacy the responsibility of keeping the white race on top should be to all whites right. Well when you replace an ideology you create a vacuum so all I was doing is presenting the replacement, which is the responsibility of America should be to all U.S Citizens.

I think Kal Penn would be a great permanent host. However, I do feel a female host would be a wonderful step forward. Where is Samantha Bee?! I enjoyed Chelsea Handler but I want her to be the first female late night host on like NBC or something. She’s more late night host than daily host, in my humble opinion. And while the correspondents are great, I think they are all best in their own right. Like Dulce could have her own show, but I don’t get the feeling news is her passion. Hasan also was wonderful but I think he would decline given his strong feelings towards the media industrial complex. And I was delighted with Wanda, but she’s a comedian, like Sarah, like DL and I don’t see them not touring or doing movies/TV just to do the Daily Show. I’m up for someone fresh and new too. But Trevor, that man had it. Whoever gets to host, they have huge shoes to fill. Love to all!! ❤
