I've tried power mic's in the past, I gave them away. I ran and still have the Turner Telex Road King 56 noise cancelling mic's. I've run Galaxy radio's mostly in my life. What was that switch on the top left corner of the radio?? I'll only run the Road King mic's. This is a nice radio and you did nice work again G.C. 204. But for the owner of this set and with NO offense meant, I'd use a noise cancelling mic. I recommend the mic I mentioned above. Great work and a great video, once again G.C. 204. Thank you kind Sir. Blessings to you and yours as always.

This totally agree. The RK56 is the best mic I have ever used especially on SSB. I modded the one on my HR2510 years ago to have the Channel + - buttons. Very simple. I agree I don't like power mics in a mobile or base.

Good video brother, to be honest I don’t use power mics either. Your common 50 dollar power mic has a 5 dollar preamp inside and a 2 dollar mic element. Another reason why I stick to the HiFi studio mics. 73’s

You have a point there, considering these companies don’t pay much to make these things quality control will only be so good. But I myself have done the same as you, once I went HiFi I have never looked back.

Another good video and gotta love those old beasts. That was when they used the good stuff inside the radios. Regards from Flagstaff aka one eyed jack. Lol

I have 2 HR 2510s original owner since 1989. I need tobget caps changed Posslly new Finals. 1 powers on but want key. The other want power on. Theey have been in storage onw since 95 the other since 2003. I didn't have a vehicle I could mount them in. (Full Console) I now have a gen5 4 runner I can do a nice dash mount. I love how you did this and the respect you had for it. DM the approx cost (worst case) to repair an re-tune both. I also want LED light conversion (RBG) if possible orange if not. I run 11M SSB.

I run Ranger SRA-198's on all my radios but the Presidents. The Galaxy's are tuned and aligned, clean, with 100% modulation and you have to tame them with a noise canceling mike. The President's are lacking in the modulation I have become used to. I got a K-PO NM 532 power mike. Running the mike gain wide open on the radio, with the K-P0 just cracked open, it still gives a clean scope wave and a little punch to the modulation. Just cannot get too wild with the mike settings. Great video, 204. 😑🦗

Yeah, it’s a balance of tuning both mic and radio properly, so you got the plan packed down brother. 73

the late great "doc" probably did the chipswitch in that radio, or rogerbird. great radios. I still use my 2830 lincoln to this day, it has the doc mrf455 final mod. Superstar dm-504 mic's work best on these, a simple stock mic, and there only $10, Nice vid ground control

I have an HR2510 that I did the 11 meter mod myself with the trace cut and jumper method, it's stock other than that and the LED display replacement. When I hook it to the meter, I deadkey at 4 watts but has little or no swing from audio. I really need someone to go through it and find the possible issue. I live in NYC and have brought it to a few people but they had no testing equipment so I wasn't about to leave my precious radio with them. Could you maybe contact me with a rough idea of what it would cost to take a look at it for me? Thanks! :)

Appreciate your calibrated equipment, tone, and two-tone test for SSB instead of just check,check,check,audio,audio,audio. and, not trying to get absolute max/watt output. 73

Well thank you sir, wonderful compliment. The “peak and tweak” era of CB still lingers unfortunately til’ this day but it’s still a great hobby for us and slowly but surely the community is growing again. 73

i have an hr2510. I had the CB channels added when I bought it in 1989 and a tune up years ago. the last time I used it I could barely hard anyone. I am getting my ham license and would like to use this radio. How could I get in touch with you to get a complete check of this radio so it can be used.

I’ve had all types of power mics on my bench back in the day, and none of them kept great waveforms on the scope except the echomax 2000… and still that model you had to gingerly open up its gain to keep harmonics from splattering. 73’s👍🏻
@GroundControl2042 жыл бұрын
I do appreciate the echomax 2000, probably one of the coolest desk mics the CB community was offered. 73🤙🏻

That’s right, barely crack the mic open and let it drive the radios modulation circuit, the rest of the tuning will be at the radio with its mic gain. 73
