JFK was adamantly opposed to Martin Luther King's march on Washington, saying their would be violence. Interrogate might not be the word you want to use as a euphemism for torture against your fellow man. I don't serve my country, that's not why it was here. The government of this country was made to handle all of the low level shit that a normal person doesn't have time to do. They were put here to serve us. @tooltalk, your criticism misses the mark for lack of context. You're right; Kennedy was 'hawkish', but then again he was a rookie with a very steep learning curve when compared to Eisenhower, who had a bead on international goings on since graduating from West Point in 1915, not to mention his strategic responsibilities during WWII and his knowledge of the situation as NATO Supreme Commander and later President of The United States. So, when giving the most famous Farewell Address since George Washington's, Eisenhower revealed what Kennedy was up against. Once Kennedy learned (he picked up lickety split), he began to question everything others did not want him questioning, which Eisenhower warned about.
