What these companies really want people who will work night and day not complain but most of these tech companies tech is 10 years old actually jobs are really easy someone can go to boot camp 5 months and some fake experience get in with history degree and be called ENGINEER. Part that sucks is for Americans who do hard work get STEM degree and do all math but have to deal with All of India and China and rest of world who want these high paying jobs. I've been in tech for almost 4 decades so naturally, I've watched this issue closely during my career. US corporations used H1-B visas for foreign tech workers not to replace US workers or "take their jobs", but to keep salary levels depressed. They saw salaries getting too high so they ran to the government crying, "Tech worker shortage! Tech worker shortage!". It was a lie, there was only a shortage of workers who were willing to work for a modest salary.... there was no shortage for companies willing to pay generous wages. But the government always does what companies want, not what benefits workers, so they created the H1-B visa program which brought tens of thousands of tech workers into the US willing to work for low salaries. Had they not done this, many Americans like me would probably have about a million dollars more in our bank accounts right now. But no, no one "took my job". What's ironic is that the lie of a tech worker shortage became a self-fulfilling prophecy. College students are not dumb, and when comp-sci majors saw that tech salaries were no longer as high as they once were (due to H1-Bs as I stated), many of them switched to other majors. So in the end there really was a slight shortage of US-born tech workers, just as US corporations had falsely claimed, prematurely. If politicians really believed in the free market as they always claim they do, they would have allowed tech salaries to temporarily climb up to high levels, then thousands of college kids would have switched over into comp-sci majors and the "shortage" would have worked itself out naturally, with greater competition for jobs bringing salaries down to reasonable levels. But unfortunately politicians only allow the market to operate freely when it puts money in their pockets (or money in the pockets of their donors).

What annoys me the most about this “job market” is how they’ve created it into a market. The same applies to the “dating market” as both terms dehumanize people regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender into being nothing less than numbers or data that decide their value. Secondly, Russia probably has the most job opportunities for Europeans, specifically due to its Arctic mega project and similar culture. Perhaps you have some insight into how, regardless of where you work in the world right now, if you have the choice to decide, you are most likely going to be safe. Americans have that privilege and don’t use it, and I think they need to realize that they are in a corporate-run country. Yeah, my ex had a computer engineering degree, but could not get a job in his field because they advertise for unicorns with all of the latest knowledge, specific degrees/certifications, and 5 years of experience in brand new technologies. State Farm didn’t employ any Americans, at that time, because they could recruit from abroad, people who had almost zero training or knowledge but very creative fictional degrees and a willingness to work at low salaries. They brought whole families with them, who’ve obtained residency and work permits under false pretenses. Big corporations have done more to undermine ambitious college students, and our high tech labor market, than anyone walking a thousand miles to work menial labor in the USA. Those foreign recruits are only allowed to work for the company that imported them, for as long as they remain non-citizens, so they are stuck unless they become naturalized citizens in record time, which isn’t as easy as people think it is. It’s not uncommon for those who don’t measure up, to be fired and NOT be deported because their spouse has acquired a work visa for another company and the family remains here without ever taking steps to become citizens. In essence, Musk, and all the other fat cats, don’t want to pay reasonable wages to Americans AT ALL. It isn’t a shortage of intelligence or skills, it is a deliberate devaluation of the people who already have them, in favor of trainable foreigners who aren’t aware that they’re being used in nefarious ways.

This was my comment: *AM3RIC4NS ARE BADLY EDUCATED* your schooling system is funded through property tax, so it depends way more on how wealthy your area is than how clever you are - then your universities are insanity price levels, this is why you rely on stealing talented people from other countries The average IQ in the US just dropped to 97.4. In North Korea its 98.8. In China its 105 and Taiwan its 107. If you dont INVEST in your people you get overtaken by countries that do...!!!

What all those people really want is the government taking charge of the education infrastructure and make the means to acquire engineering skills readily available to the greater number without a lifetime burden of student debt. But that would be "socialism", so these people will keep voting against their own interests and make up fantasies about tech companies doing the government's job...

Maybe the best plan than is to reduce pre-university education even more, isn’t it?!! There is a YT from an IS engineer working/living in Germany and he commented about the homework of his 5-grade son: „I didn’t see such questions until highschool back in the US“. School can prepare you for a potential life as an engineer, or for a life as a consumer. Guess which one is a native English speaker?!!

Our school financing system is based on taxing local property values. Which guarantees that rich neighborhoods will always have more $ per student than poor neighborhoods. The students from rich schools will easily get jobs in law and banking. The ones from poor schools won't get into engineering school. I don't understand why anyone is surprised by the results.

Thanks for the Thoughtful Video Chris. What do we teach in American Schools? It's painfully obvious that it's not Civics. Also not Science judging from the average American's grasp of Scientific Principles and Method. Even English could use some help. Maybe Software Engineering is not a Priority. I've recently retired, but the issues are more complex than what a lot of people are carping about. For one, you are not going to find an illegal immigrant taking a highly skilled tech job from anybody due to the high visibility and excessive proof required for these jobs. Also, I've seen that a lot of HR departments don't screen talent as well to get candidates to the first interview because the job requirements are ridiculous and not well thought out. Also, it looked like much of the positions are for candidates with 5+ years of experience, where HR is screening out candidates that have less experience. Also, the very best engineers are the ones that have been mentored properly and trained by experienced and motivated seniors, who instill a sense of wonder, initiative and helps the new engineers with gaining the requisite experience to advance and to develop new ideas that advance technological innovation. Most of the people who complain about the lack of native American talent or about illegal immigrants taking these jobs are people who are not engineer, or work with, mentor and teach younger engineers.

The whole H1B visa issue, which is how most foreign tech workers get into the US, is very complex and frankly heavily abused by Tech companies. Folks come in on those visas and aren't free to look for other jobs and must accept the pay and conditions. If they are that valuable give them a green card and let them move around. Most companies don't want this to occur - they want tech slaves.
@RaechelMaelstrom18 сағат бұрын
What it really is is that H1B employees are tied to their employers and give the employer huge leverage over those people. They are easier to hire and pay less. There's a whole shadow setup of H1B job listings where they never allow americans to apply. It's easy to see this happen, h1b salaries are public record by law, which does make it easier to see what these people are getting paid, and how it's under other people. There's plenty of smart Americans to take the jobs.

@SocietalDefibrilation The very few refugees who become extremists are not representative of the larger population. My grandfather was a refugee, displaced by German Nazis, and my great-grandparents were the equivalent to refugees before the definition existed, but displaced and subjugated by the British. So I'm speaking from personal experience. The extremists you describe would not have been radicalised without the widespread colonialism and neocolonialism practiced by the West. Neither would have they become refugees in the first place. Germany and other Western countries also have plenty of native violent extremists, but without neocolonial subjugation as a causative factor, instead being radicalised by neocolonial propaganda. If you are a sucker to becoming indoctrinated by the neocolonial propaganda that manufactures consent for Western imperialism, warmongering, and the isolationism that takes our attention away from the real enemies, the oligarchs, and turns it instead on demonised out-groups, then of course you will automatically associate refugees with extremism.
@kelpieroo18 сағат бұрын
@@mostbased How do Jordananian and Egyptyptians often treat and judge their refugees? Out-group resentment both warps the opinion of refugees and makes refugees, who have no choice in their situation, resent those who insist on dehumanising them. Unless you are a person easily hoodwinked in by out-group hostility and in-group favouritism, these things are really not hard to figure out. When Egyptians have to seek refugee status in other countries, how do you think Egyptians would like these people to be treated by their host countries? Hypocrisy is not a virtue nor is it a result of logic.

I've worked as a union construction laborer for 34 years. I worked many non-union construction jobs before that. From my personal experience immigrant labor has kept wages down, I've personally had undocumented immigrants work for me and they are no more skilled. They will readily break the law and do unsafe work because they don't know any better. Communication difficulties can be a big hurdle too. Roofing wages, concrete and many other low skilled crafts have had stagnant wages for 30 years in some instances. This is why American youth find many of these jobs unattractive. The nursing home industry is the same thing. I've found as a rule second generation immigrants tend to be conservative and despite the fact liberals seem to be more pro-immigration, though I'm not. Hispanic immigrants are ofen very conservative especially when it comes to traditional family structure (The man is the boss and the woman is a slave.) and religious idealism. My summation always comes down to except for third world labor, Amerikkka is a shareholder paradise. Politicians on both sides of the isle are bought and paid for.

From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. “Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. 23:54 A few years back, I worked with an engineer who had fled South Africa. He shared his story with me: “South Africa was incredibly violent and unstable. I seized the only chance I had to escape by moving to the UK, where I spent a year working as an unskilled laborer in a freezer fish warehouse.” Although he was trained as an artist, there were no opportunities in his field, forcing him to take on one of the toughest jobs imaginable. He endured freezing temperatures of minus 23°C, tirelessly pushing crates of frozen fish. By the end of that year, his clothes smelled so strongly of fish that he even had to throw away his watch. Sadly, since his departure, South Africa has only continued to deteriorate. He had an option to move to the UK because he had British heritage, his parents were descendants of Englishmen, and there was a program of repatriation from the former colonies as long as you could prove your heritage.
