I like the new set up, coming down the hall. Visually it looks much better, and it allowed the President to exit without reporters surrounding him and asking more questions after the conference was over.

R.R's diary: "A practice session for the press conf. & now the Conference. It went well and everyone was upbeat about it. We turned the set around & I had the main hall as my background instead of the East wall."

Reagan could have walked out and announced a cure for cancer, announce every citizen will receive $10K per family, and the press corp would have a problem. They are terrible to any politician who is conservative.
