This is heart-warming. When I was young, the relationship between the US and China was just that good. I was studying during 91 and 92 at Fudan by myself. And the general feeling of spring, optimism and future was enormous. I suddenly realized that this is what life in Germany and Austria after WW II must have been like; (stories my parents and grandparents used to tell which I could never appreciate before); so, I decided to do everything I could to come back to relive these memories.

A great president. I saw him when I was young pioneer in childhood in Shanghai at that diplomacy visit. I am the witness to the historical moment of Sino America relationship.

I was in that classroom, albeit years after Reagon came. Students who grew up during that period are the best in terms of academic quality. They are also the most pro-American group.

The 1980s in China was a relatively free time for Intellectuals. remember a lot of debates over economical reform and political reforms as well in class and in society. no more such days.

Relationships were Okay because of the high gaps between America and China economically and technologically. Now the gaps have narrowed considerably, and America felt a large threat , and relationship turn sour.

Heart-warming. A great communicator communicated great things i.e. values, belief, wisdoms shared by all human beings. A faithful leader respresented the shinning city on the hill - 'in my mind it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here.'

Mr. President was answering the questions of Chinese government via the students' mouths. We feel the real warm friendship from the speaking and smile of Mr. Reagan. We miss it. 1980's is the best period of democrat of China, then, fewer and fewer, people forgot what is democrat thoroughly. Now, this trend is getting expand in US, you are losing the real democrat day and day.

看黑板上的内容应该是复旦英文系的课堂。这些英文系的学生英文都相当高水准,很正式很优雅。美中不足的是他们的提问太宏大严肃,不够轻松活泼或尖锐。不过这样的场合,学生提问肯定是事先安排演练好的。

4月28日“彩排”那天,谢希德校长还亲自来检查。那几位同学经过积极练习、反复彩排,基本达到了正式提问时问题深刻、声音洪亮、发音准确、表达流畅的要求。与此同时,学生提出的六个问题早已传到美国,美国方面亦为里根总统拟定了简明有力的答稿。的确,双方配合好的一场表演,然而现实比较残酷的一点,对于里根和众多中国官员来说一切都是惯常套路,而对于复旦的学生和陆谷孙教授,这短短的几十分钟也就是人生巅峰了!

That time I knew Ronald Reagan in Fu Dan university in Shanghai city in China. I knew his speech there at that time. Reagan was open while China was just open at that time. China is just open to the world. This period of time is the best during the recent 4 decades.

America 🇺🇸 has been a country of freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities principles focused nation. China of Mao’s eras were iron fist Communism ideologies of country where massive innocent Chinese peoples were dead, tortured, jailed, struggled or suicided by such iron fist formats during his Cultural revolution movement which destroyed Chinese’s human nature, Confucius’ moral standards, kindness nature, minimum courtesy, manners and human dignities. Many of his comrades who sacrificed their life and death were tortured or harmed or killed by his extremism of the iron fist Communism ideologies, but he himself behaved more like dictatorship spirit or king’s mentality. Innocent Chinese were extremely afraid and mad inside, but to swallow quietly together. As soon as Mao was dead, Mao’s eras were gone for good. Dung Xiao Ping who studied in France believed Chinese peoples deserve some democracy for liberty 🗽 of more freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities together by getting along with our country America’s principles of the freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities principles to live better life. This is why Chinese peoples want reformed systems instead of going back into Cultural Revolutions again by massive protests everywhere. However if they can protest, still means they are getting more freedoms than Mao’s eras. However, some freedoms are not enough, although we understand that from an iron fist dictatorship ideologies of Communism systems can’t become America’s greatness of freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities overnight. If they can continue efforts for more freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities principles and learn more from America’s principles and appreciate our country America’s generosity and kindness nature by more freedoms and equality of opportunities, less bad images, more good images, 🇺🇸 will be happier for long time’s efforts toward China for Chinese being able to enjoy liberty 🗽 altogether. This is why China shouldn’t attack Taiwan peoples and let Taiwan peoples live peacefully together to enjoy liberty 🗽 and peaceful life peacefully together. When one day, China becomes more more liberty 🗽, not only Taiwan peoples may love to live there, also more peoples from the world will live there too, because peoples love freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities as Americans love America for freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities. American 🇺🇸 dreams also come from this ways. Whatever we do, peace ☮️ is the visions, wisdoms and efforts. President Reagan’s and President Bush’s efforts were for this. Most Presidents may think the similar ways. This is why our country America’s own recognitions and principles of the freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities are most important things as the world leadership status efforts for more freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities will be able to spread around into the world as human beings’ minimum happiness altogether. Peace of the world will also come easier. God Bless America 🇺🇸, peace efforts and liberty 🗽 for greatness, strength and happiness as one united nation America’s greatness together.
