Ndeysan, memories of an innocent era gone by for ever. I am watching this after the passing of our beloved Jawara. May Allah grant him Jannatul firdous Ameen. Gambia was not developed but we were very happy. Everything was reasonable there was abundant food for everyone and life was simple and good.

😳 you make Gambia sound like paradise under the Jawara regime. I remember Banjul stinking with “potty kamas” into the late 80s. Jawara was a peaceful leader but neglected his people which caused us a monstrous regime in Jammeh. Most welcomed Jammeh’s coup because how Jawara neglected his people. In retrospect, we welcomed our doom. I pray his soul Rest In Peace.

@@denasylla4696 So, stinking "potty kamas" meant he neglected his people? Really? This is a man who fought tooth and nail and made a lot of sacrifices to liberate Gambia from colonial rule and you sit there and have the nerve to say he neglected his people? Well, Gambia was a paradise during his time compared to the gambia we've been having since July 1994 to date. Which Gambia would you rather have??

I am highly interested in African history (and Pan-Africanism). The late Both Presidents Sekou Toure and Sir. D. Jawara were great leaders and Pan-Africanists. May their souls and the souls of other African leaders and individual Africans who played cardinal roles in the liberation of your beautiful and rich African Continent RIP. They did their very best in liberating AfricaAfrica. Hopefully, the current and future generations will play important roles in the development and transformation of Africa, the richest continent in terms of natural resources.
