I love this radio waiting on Father’s Day my wife is getting me the radio and a house antenna. I will supply my cable and already have my power supply and my meter adjuster too! Getting back into the hobby after so many years. Thanks for the information you make it simple

Good morning Henry. Very cool to hear that you are getting back into the hobby. The radio works great. I currently have it in the vehicle. My wife has the Thomas in hers. We use FM. And have 5-7 miles of reliable communication. Terrain is hills and valleys. Be careful putting up the antenna on the house or pole. Conditions have been great lately. Propagation has been outstanding on AM and SSB. That’s why I’m using FM with her and a few friends. Cause we don’t have to worry about being “Stepped on”. Not sure what antenna you will be installing? You’ll have to keep me posted on the installation. Also does the family use CB at all. If not get them started. Maybe when your home and they go out to the store and vise versa. It’s important to teach others in the household how to use the radios. Just saying I’ve had times here when the power was out and or when the cell grid went down. Radio was my only means of communicating with friends and family. Frs/ Gmrs is also another tool. Gmrs requires a license. But no test to take just apply and everyone in your household can use the call sign. 73 Henry thanks for subscribing. Keep me posted

@@mikecricket113 I use frms with my daughter. She likes to go to cosplay and other events so she takes one with her. So she is used to it! My wife used to use her dads cb radio back in the day so I think she is looking forward to it also! I plan to use a sigma venom 5/8 secured on my chimney that I’ll be stretched out only about 6 feet above the chimney. Since hoa is touchy around here. But the allow that much only 8 feet total height above the house. Thanks I will keep you posted

@@HenryCalderonJr brilliant on all counts. Glad to hear about FRS in the Cosplay venues, that’s great use. Also great on your wife’s fathers CB. HOA’s are terrible. If they give you flack about it. You could always get a flagpole antenna and tune it for 11 meter. Being on the ground it would be great for DX. Or an attic antenna. Good luck and thanks for sharing

Thank you Mike. I'm glad to see that this radio has true amplitude modulation, it appears that these mini AM FM CB radios they're about the size of two packs of cigarettes side by side are not true amplitude modulation. A reviewer pulled the case off of one, and no audio transformer. Thanks for the review on the president Walker it's nice to see that it's not a gigantic radio like the cobras and with way too many switches 73 N6ZUS

Just needs sideband and it would be the perfect radio.

Sometimes I wonder if a company could save money and resources by just making say 4 options of radio. Small medium and large sizes and an hand held model. Large being a very well made with top quality components SSB/AM/FM rig.

@@mikecricket113 I wanted a unit for my car, on long distance trips. I asked around and it seemed very few people were using FM. I would up buying a President McKinley. AM, SSB, Weather, Weather Alert. I really appreciate the Weather functions.
@mikecricket113 Жыл бұрын
@@jerrypolverino6025 yes it’s true the cb community hasn’t warmed up to FM yet here in the states. Over in the UK 🇬🇧 they were using FM before they were aloud to use AM or SSB. But I hear you in my older videos if you look back you will see my AM/SSB/WX McKinley in my vehicle. I loved that rig in the mobile. Might put it back in line soon. And correct WX on the radio is extremely important to me too. I use the alert in the shack. In the mobile it scares me when driving lol 😆. Not sure where port is for you? But the weather is getting crazier at late. Tornados 🌪️ popping up more in new supercells that cross the states.

Good video! CB sales must be doing well for President to come out with another FM capable CB.

Thanks for watching. Yes I hear they are selling lots of radios. And if you think about it. They are the only One updating their products with FM. I keep looking at Other manufactures and nobody is updating their rigs. Only President Electronics is at the top of the FM hill.

Well the McKinley 2 AM/FM/SSB is out now so check it out. If you want more channels then I suggest a good technician. Or study for your Ham Radio License. The great thing about ham radio is there are no channels, just frequencies and you get a ton of them. With the Walker 3 I do enjoy the style of Classic/Modern. So I get what you’re putting down. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. 73

Correct. That’s the unfortunate side of being at 11 m operator. We only have channels one through 40 so everybody uses all those channels. Now as we know we have a gentleman‘s agreement for channel 35 to 40 to be single sideband. Nobody has decided by Gentlemens agreement with the FM channels should be and not like anyone would follow them because this is 11 m. That’s why I love amateur radio because every single allocation band has a gentleman’s agreement where you can work certain modes. And people are considerate of others, and do not transmit on top of each other. I am under the belief that local areas picked their FM channel. For instance, my area is channel 24. Some people use channel 33. But by that you’re limiting yourself. So good luck I hope that you find somebody using FM out there beside yourself. It’s mostly used in foreign countries like the United Kingdom.
