i would give you 2 thumbs up if i could. very very useful info. i dumped the idea of gettin a firepod 2nd hand (im on a very short budget) for the "only mono outputs" thing (and because it didnt has Adat out which will be very usefull in my case), but i said to my self "its gotta be a way", lets search a little bit more... and now im back on it because of this video so thank you very very much 🙏

What are the chances I could get your help with my drums setup using my firepod? Presonus has ZERO support and I’m struggling to get my audio setup working

Sorry but I am totally retired from audio. The best places to visit are forums where you can read questions as well as ask your own questions. Good luck

I guess I'm one of those experts, but not having one of these devices to play around with... I was wondering how outputs 1,2 and Cue and L,R and Headphone are routed internally to the device. I am assuming that they cheaped out on 2 D/A converters and just bridged all 4 outputs to the 1st and 2nd set of D/A converters. PS outputs 9,10 are actually routed to the SPIF output.

Hi, thanks for the video, I'm using the exact same setup than you (PreSonus FirePod + ART HeadAmp 6 Pro) and got it to work thanks to this video, however, when I try to send a mono signal to the Auxes of the HeadAmp, it only shows one channel... Any ideas?

Oh Man I just discovered your video. Perhaps too late. Thank you so much ! I just buyed a Presonus firestudio project and i want to create 4 stereo outputs for my band. The problem is that the 1-2 are assign to the main master theres also the spif 9-10 output and i don't know how to do like you do. Have 4 stereo outputs for the band and main on the 9-10 Could you show us how to use the Universal control?
@rickcperry2 жыл бұрын
On your output bus, just select output 1/2 as L R, then output 3/4 as L R and so on. If you use the outputs as monitor sends, you would have to create extra bus outputs in the software. And this was Studio one, not universal control. Hope this helps a little

@@rickcperry hy ! Thx for your answer, first with thé presonus faire studio project there is à software to create cues also. I use ableton and i'd create 4 bus for each musiciens but thé problème is that phisicaly thé soundcard has 8 mono outputs but thé 1-2 is used for the main master outpout so it reste only 3/4 5/6 & 7/8 cause the 9/10 is à spdif and it cant be use like balenced stéréo output. That's m'y problème. I've tried to agrégat another little sound card of presonus but it's create à lot of latency.. I dont know how to résolve m'y problem. If you have an idea ? Thanks

@@beaubrunb The only thing I can think of is the buffering setting on some DAW's. this can cause live latency issues. Good luck

Hello bro this is really helpful i have the Presonus 1818vsl and Studio One 3 im gonna try this, only that i have a stereo compressor wich i want to work with, i did some routing like you did and i had some problems with monitoring i got this feedback signal when i pushed the gain on my outboard compressor, i also recieved the original signal plus the signal i was manipulating with the compressor, how do i do to listen only what I'm editing? My routing is going from the outputs 3 and 4 from the Presonus> input compressor> output compresor> input 1 and 2 Presonus The compressor is a FMR really nice compressor and is unbalanced, any tips?
@rickcperry6 жыл бұрын
Just a guess here, Make sure outputs 3 and 4 are only assigned per channel and not including the L/R Bus and that input 1 and 2 do not get assigned to outputs 3 and 4.

yes but don't you mean send the 8 aux sends from the mixer into the firepod to send to Cubase? Thanks for watching

Many thanks for the great video I am thinking about getting one of these to send mixes to headphone preamp and save some space and money. I wonder if the i/o unit must be connected to computer via firewire during the gig and if the unit keeps the setting in memory and keep the audio routing settings stored after turned off, so i can simply turn it on next time and reuse the last settings.
@rickcperry7 жыл бұрын
You will have to keep the unit connected on Firewire and if the computer crashes then so does your routing. On a Mac with the Presonus software, you set up a custom mixer the way you want all the routing. When you reboot, load the custom mixer in your session, enable the record buttons (you don't have to record, just enable them) and then the routing should be the same as when you saved it. Hope this helps

Do you simply plug the presonus firepod into your computer with the firewire plug? and if so, is it a usb port?
@imark77777779 жыл бұрын
***** +Chris Wilczewski technically FireWire and USB ues 2 different protocols ( think of it as English and Spanish ), however there do exist 2 types of Adapters. adapter set 1 is a retractable cable with different ends which allow you to use it for multiple purposes, and this is strictly an electrical connection and will certainly fry! something seeing how USB is 5V and firewire is 12+/-V. Adapter set 2 is a special video capture device that is designed to allow a DV camera to output DV video in real-time over FireWire and get converted in the unit and outputted over the USB port as a video capture device. I hope that makes sense, unfortunately even though I think such a device could be created nobody has done so. USB was created to replace the serial bus for keyboards and mice (one-way) and was slowly adapted for more. whereas FireWire was created to replace the SCSI interface and was design for real-time 2 way communications between disk drives, scanners, video devices and so on.

I plug my firewood straight into my iMac however channels 3 and 4 are much lower than 1 and 2 when recording 4 audio channels at the same time. The video was good but if the solution was there it went over my head. Any solutions for making channels 3 and 4 as hot as 1 and 2.
@rickcperry7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean firepod? what are the gain pots adjusted to? are they the same mic's? etc etc...
@petebegley17057 жыл бұрын
Yes, firepod sorry about spell check. I play the Chapman Stick so it's a stereo instrument. The bass strings are in ch 1. Being that I like to hear them with reverb and delay I split the melody strings into ch 2 (clean) and ch 3 (with effects). Ch 4 is a mic for singing. Again Ch 1&2 are plenty loud. Ch 3&4 very quiet even with knobs on firepod very high. On another issue I wonder if you would know, I film the recording in Logic X using iMovie. The footage in iMovie however records in silence because of the firepod being the input. Long shot but is there a way around this? It makes editing much more difficult especially as I try to record several tunes without stopping. Thank you for your time and response.
@rickcperry7 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have the device selected in the Audio Midi Settings to say, use this device for audio input. Can't help you with the gain issue, too many variables.
