Hey buddy, I have an old firepod that I dusted off, but I have none of the cables. What cable do I need to connect the firewire port to my 2013 macbook? Is it the firewire 800 to usb?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. Firewire isn't wired the same way as USB and doesn't deliver data the same way, so a Firewire to Usb cable wouldn't work. You would have to get a FireWire Pci card, and since Macbooks don't have PCI slots, i'm afraid You're Out of luck :/ sorry

Couldn’t you use an Apple FireWire to Thunderbolt adapter? You might also have to get a FireWire 400 to FireWire 800 cable since the adapter is Thunderbolt to FireWire 800. That should work.
