I'd like to point out that bluegrass isn't country, but rather country and bluegrass both originated from old-time music (the music from O Brother, Where Art Thou?).

This is an exceptional lesson, thank you so much for taking the time to make it. I had no idea how powerful Studio One was, and almost fell off the chair when I saw the capability to convert a guitar track into midi, and then from there switch the instrument and transpose it down an octave. I am never going to leave my house after this! Added bonus, I love your dog :)

Hey Jojo! in short, yes to all! The AudioBox Studio includes an M7 condenser mic that is ideal for recording acoustic guitar. There are also acoustic guitars out there with XLR outputs built-in that will also work. Melodyne, included in Studio One Professional, can convert pitch to MIDI. Note that you will experience better results with this when playing single-note melodies than when playing full chords. Have fun!

Well I have a problem sadly :( I use the Pro Tools Native HD interface and upgraded to EL Capitan OS. I did upgrade to the latest Avid drivers, but the drivers currently only support Pro Tools and not 3 party DAW's! Which upset me since I use multiple Daw's. So now I have to wait on Avid to release updated drivers to support 3rd party Daw's :( I paid $7k back in the day for my interface and I don't think it would be fair that I would have to go out and buy another interface just to support 3rd party Daw's! I am told Avid is working on the issue but have a release date.

My mic won't record when I push the record buttons for the mic and at the bottom of the screen on studio one. I tired posting on presonus website but it didn't work. I went through your steps to turn the mic on and the audio but when I press "record" the color will go streaming across the screen but and. I speak into the mic no sound waves show up on the screen even though I hear myself and the mic works. It's so frustrating and irritating. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. I hear myself & it's "leveled" there's just no sounds waves when I speak and push record

the 48v button is for the mike only on channel 1, use channel 2 for the instrument. Also make sure the mike volume is turned up enough, but not so much it clips the sound (distorts when recording). And there is also the toggle button in studio one itself. you can turn the mike on and off there too on the individual track (small round black button). watch the video again slowly :), another issue you may have, is that you've plugged the audio box into a different usb than when you installed the software. You need to use the same usb port for some reason.

***** Who did you buy from? You should be able to get a non-broken stand from them. The M7 mic uses a standard mic-stand adapter, so any typical microphone stand should do the job. I would recommend bringing the M7's stand-mount adapter with you to the store and fit-checking just to be sure.

I probably got as much useful information from this single 30 minute video on the basics of laying down tracks (using loops and "pre-rolls" to count into when the recording is to begin) as I did from watching seemingly countless other videos that were specifically created on those subjects). So many other "trainers" seem so compelled to explain every button on the screen, that the "basics" are lost. Like others, I'm not a fan of country music but the techniques Mr. Spense explains would work in any genre. I would recommend watching the entire 30 minute video to see how all the pieces (both of the song itself and the techniques involved) all fit together. If you simply want to start laying down a few quality tracks and need some quick-n-dirty training, this is the "go to" video for that. I'm not so interested in using per-recorded drum and other background loops, but if that's what you want to do, the basics of those are explained well in this video as well. I originally didn't bookmark this video... then regretted it. When I needed some basic understanding of looping my own playing, I watch seemingly endless (and non-ending) videos trying to find the basic knowledge this video demonstrates in just 30 minutes. Once I finally found the video again, I bookmarked it for sure! Nicely done, Mr. Spense!

Nice recording. Just remember to convert your kick, clap, tracks to mono to have a tight audio spectrum overall during the mixing. Stereo kick and clap overlaps frequency with other tracks that results in cancellation or phase problem.

I bought Studio 1. The software: when I recorded the song, the duration is only 5 minutes. My song was a little bit more then 5 minutes. When I went to guitar center and asked about that, they said I'll have to upgrade to get full version which is about $250. The microphone : voice distorted . So I bought new one (AKG ) for $164. The only things that work were, interface and the cords.

I bought PRESONUS itwo with midi in and out , and it works perfectly out of the box , I put it on my ipad with lightning standard cable for the itwo box and from there into the adapter to charge the iPad , and it works with my midi keyboard Akai Miniak . I use garageband and record a track with a piano and a stereo track from the itwo box where the Akai miniak is put on som Strings (2stereo , AT THE SAME TIME)..The iPad does not charge via the box but maybe if it's off, I have not just tried it. I have tried camera conection kit and it can not charge ipad , but then there is opportunities for other sound cards , but you have to mess with cable. It seemed to itwo box is good and does not take up as much space, simple to use, you can use an powerbank if you are out and shoot in the wild. I could use an app for MIDI input / output, i have not use the software yet.

Before I go pick one of these up I was hoping you could clarify something in the user manual regarding the Mix knob and monitoring incoming signals and playback tracks. There is a note that reads: "When creating monitor mixes using Studio One or another DAW, it is important that you turn the Mixer knob all the way to the Playback position. Monitoring both the input signal and the playback stream will create a doubling effect that will make monitoring difficult." Working solo, it's important that I be able to get a good cue mix blend of the tracks and the input I'm recording. How would I accomplish this? I work with Adobe Audition if that helps any.

Justin, I am an aspiring voice over artist (no Musical Instruments) I have a couple of technical questions. 1. How do you enable/disable the pre roll on the Presonus USB? How do you adjust the amount of time for the pre roll function? 2. How do you adjust the vertical scales on the graphs so you can clearly see the graph that you are tracing as you play/sing? 3. Is there a detailed manual that will tell you the functions of all the buttons in the upper left hand corner of the screen (the knife, the pencil, etc...)? Thanks for your help.

Good morning Engineers, well it's Sunday morning here in Abuja, Nigeria smiles. Please I use a Studiolive 16.4.2 in my church for over a year now.... Fantastic I must confess. I alway recommend Studiolive anytime and anywhere. Something happened yesterday during a wedding at the church, the right channel of the Main output stopped bringing out audio. I notice a smell. The mixer is driving by a dbx DriveRack PA+ connect to Presonus powered speakers. Every other equipment is working well. Now I just use the left channel of the Main output and the Mono output. Please I need an immediate solution. If possible, I can put video call through to any of you in other to rectify this. I love my STUDIOLIVE. Expecting your kind and prompt response. Thank you very much. From Abuja, Nigeria. Life Kakogbe.

Hi, I also live in Nigeria, I have bought about three of your boards for our churches in different parts of Nigeria. I love your board and I have a request from another of our churches to help recommend a board for them but I am reluctant because I have contacted the guy at new media for help in fixing one of our boards but till date he has not been able to do anything. Please we need help, we believe you have a fantastic product but the support for it in Nigeria is very bad.
