Great review. I've watched others, but yours was the one that sold me on the mic. This video is the first one I've seen that demonstrates the way the Revelator can be used with a phone via USB-C, while retaining the presets!

This was a really good review. I am really new to this process of home audio recording, podcasting, streaming, etc but the more I read these reviews the more my knowledge improves. I recently purchased the Samson G Track Pro. I haven't opened the item as I am still comparing microphones and features. The mixing and loopback features of this microphone are brilliant. I am also convinced of your recommendation that this is possibly a good microphone for beginners wanting to learn the workflow processes of audio recording and mixing. I think that what PreSonus has done with this USB micro is rather unique compared to other USB microphones. One of the reasons for wanting to keep the Samson microphone was because of the switchable polar recording patterns as well as the 2 channel input options which it seems like this PreSonus also includes. For lack of a better way of saying this and hoping as a newbie I am using the right terms, the PreSonus is sort of like an audio interface (via software) and microphone all built into one via "Device Manager" in Windows where you can also using a mobile device as a mixing board to manage the audio input sources. It is a brilliant workflow for those wanting to learn the workflow processes of audio mixing which I haven't seen in any other USB microphone review. Are you able to comment on some of the observations and feedback I've noted here? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Thanks for the overview, Jane. The whole recording process seems complicated to me, but that may be inevitable considering the kind of power and flexibility the mic provides.

Jane - nice review as ever. Very informative and clear. Just slow up a bit. On the strength of this and other reviews I bought one. However, it's going back. Here's why. I accept opinions may differ. 1. headphone monitor on the mic is very noisy - like ridiculous level of hiss (it's probably an analogue amp pre A/D and a very bad one at that). Main channel digital audio is less noisy but I wouldn't say "...very clean with no hiss" though I am comparing with a Rode NT1 which is one of the quietest mics around. 2. There is absolutely NO apparent vibration insulation between the mic element and its housing or of course the base (as they are clamped together). Try drumming your fingers on the desk it's on. Useless for interview work unless on an arm. Lots of audio colouration from the desk vibrating to your speech (tbh sitting a mic that close to a hard surface is never going to be uncoloured anyway). Which brings me to 3. I can''t get the mic adapter screw to fit into the thread under the mic to try it on an arm. A friend has same mic and he can't either. 4. The audio gain knob on the mic is very flimsy - it won't last 5 minutes in studio use. 5. It took me two attempts at installing the software to get it to work (not uncommon if you Google it). Many will disagree with me - but all the points above are qualified with reasons not just "It's fab, it's brill", etc. Thanks.

Hi Dave, thank you for such a detailed comment. I must admit I had not really thoroughly tested the headphone port. On a second listen, to my ear it sounds fine n my mic. But I am going to put out a follow up video on this issue. And also I'll look at the issue of sound isolation, with direct comparisons to some other USB mics. Interesting points. Thanks - and I'll let you know when new video is live 👍

Thanks for reviewing the Presonus! I bought it a month or two ago and the software is indeed very powerful. I keep discovering ever more stuff :-) I do have to get used a bit to using a very sensitive condensor mic like this one and put it in a Aston Swift shockmount on a rather heavy K&M desk stand which really helps reduce the contact noises quite a bit.

Hi. Big fan here. I have a question. So if revelator is connected to my macbook, will it automatically detect the revelator interface? How about the software, will it automatically pop up to the screen. You know i just love live singing using karaoke videos in youtube. I already have Yamaha HS8 speakers, Rode condenser mic, headphone. So im looking for the right audio interface for live singing from a youtube karaoke with a home studio quality. My friends highly recommend presonus revelator. Please do share some thoughts and answer my questions. Thanks

Hi, yes, when I demo it on phone in this video that is exactly what I have done - USB-C on mic to USB-C on phone. I think it is better than the AT2020USB+ as has a higher recording resolution and also has the benefit of the other features available within the UC software.

Hello 👋 I just found your video while I was looking for info on mixers on google. You seem very knowledgeable so I have a question that I hope you can answers. I have two different pairs of active speakers, one is the Kali in 8 and the other is the Edifier s3000pro. One have xlr balance inputs the other have RCA. Ok the question is. Can I use a mixer to connect both pairs at once so the same audio plays in all the speakers? For example TV audio or streaming devices or also a turn table. If so can you recommend a mixer for me that sounds well and don't break the bank? I thank you in advance and send my respect from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷😎✌️. Be safe.

I just recently acquired the Presonus Revelator and I am trying to follow along to all you are saying but it is hard for me. I am still not 100% sure I have the microphone all set up although I have recorded with it in Audacity. My main question is at least at the moment, when you play all of your presets and various voices how am I able to hear them? In other words how am I able to here my different voices and studios effect is it not enough to just have things hooked up to the compute and maybe with a pair of headphones plugged in. I guess another way of asking is can your computer on its own be turned into a sort of PA system. This is where I am having the most difficult time. Even with a wireless mic I tried I thought once I plugged it in to the computer through its own box and so fourth as soon as I spoke into it I assumed I would hear me coming out over my speaker system but no way. Is there anyway to accomplish this at all with out using a real PA system or mixer, or audio interface or Amplifier, or anything else? I do not want to have to record it first then play it back to here it, I need major help in these areas.

No Live Support. I bought this mic but am very disappointed with it. I cannot get it to record my instrument over a backing track. Called Presonus today. They do not offer Live support. I just wanted to review a few settings. Probably wouldn't have taken more than a few minutes. That's why I am likely going to return it and purchase a mic from a company that properly supports its product.
