I really find it confusing that a videogame that has the new year number in the title comes out a few months early. For example, a videogame targeted for New Year’s Eve 2010 comes out in around October 2009

I like game show games myself, but usually they either don't translate to video game form well or they are budgety and have odd problems such like the AI in this one. Which game show game do you think makes the best video game to play with family? Do you think you might review some board games for wii? I used to love these kinds of things on the NES.

Like you, I am a huge PYL fan. I have over 400 shows on DVD and all I have to say is that this video game is an insult to the series. Couldn't the creators of the game spend more time on the board design? The prize squares are completely pitiful. I won a trip worth $3,500? A trip to WHERE?! Hell? Ugh...but anyway, good review and I completely agree with everything that you said. Also, to the late Peter Tomarken and Rod Roddy, we miss you and thank you for pressing your luck!

I purchased the game on PC and have played several online editions. The bad part of the online editions are the whammies which are usually audio clips with no video or animation. The bad part of these versions are the lack of prize variety. Who was a fan of the show and doesn't remember the home robot or the flokati rug? Winning a trip as the only prize sucks.

It's almost a perfect remake of the 80s classic. Instead of using the theme music that was around for most of the show's life, they went with the seldom heard music from PYL's pilot episode. To get everything else right, but this one thing wrong takes the wind out of my sails, just a little bit.

The reboot of Press Your Luck was done out of necessity. I've sure you've heard of Michael Larson, who memorized the pattern of the Press Your Luck big board lights and pretty much exploited the network. Check out "Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal" for more details. I do like this game as well, and it is a faithful transition. I do agree that I wish there was more to it. It just seems very bare bones. Doesn't stop it from being a fun game though.

Haven't seen PYL in a while, I assume. Round 1 always had the lower dollar amounts in the show, which is why round 1 in this game also has low amounts.

Their BIGGEST mistake was making the same 3 combinations of cash, prizes and whammies pop up when the board rotated. Granted the lights were pretty random, but there was always a combo that appeared of the three that contained NO WHAMMIES which pretty much deemed this game a dust collector in my room. What fun is it if there's a sure thing. Plus the whammies sound like little animals and where's the music on the beatles whammy?? Eitherway ludia clearly was on a loooowwww budget.

A Press Your Luck game has SOOO much potential, even on a low budget. The lack of the actual game show music is disappointing, the board cycles too a bit too slow, the buzz action seems a bit off. And like the review said, there's not much incentive to keep playing it.

The biggest strikes against this game are the terrible AI and the fact that the "prize" spaces are always a trip and always the same value, $3k in round 1, $4k in round 2.
