If you have an Asian market in your area they sell huge bags of dehydrated Mushrooms I buy mine get they are vacuum sealed and shelf stable and when you open the pack just put unused mushrooms in a air tight jar fir storage ! If using to fry soak in Water ti hydrated snd drain well and dry with paper towel , if using to cook in recipes they will hydrate while cooking !! They are very reasonably priced Aldi I paid $7.99 a large bag for them !! God bless 🙏🙋🏻

Oh wow Ms Toni! You reminded me of what my Grandmother did! She was a wild crafter. She would go out in the woods of their 99 acres and bring home grain sacks full of mushrooms. Then she would can them up in those little jelly jars. They were always a treat for us kids! I had forgot that she did this, so I’m adding a new series to my canned goods! Thank you for an excellent video! God bless!

Hi Tony good ti know how to can mushrooms ! I buy dehydrated mushrooms from my local Asian market and I can put them in boiling water and hydrate them cut in 1/4’s and can them it would appear ! That’s great news , when I open my dehydrated ones I just put the unused ones in air tight jars and Keep on them until next time I need them ! I buy huge bags at the Asian market dehydrated for $7.99 a bag , which I think is a good buy, and yet bags have enough to make several meals ! When I want to fry them I rehydrate and dry well bread snd fry if useing in soups, casseroles , chili or spaghetti sauce or other sauces I just put them in snd they hydrate while cooking !! The Asian market has all different kinds of dehydrated mushrooms and all are really good !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻

I usually buy fresh mushrooms, put them in the fridge and forget about them. Then when I go to use them they have gone bad. I do like the little cans you can buy in a case at BJ's. This looks like a great idea.
@HerHomesteadSkills

Do you have to debubble?
@laurashaw9080
@laurashaw9080 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering that as well.
@HerHomesteadSkills
@HerHomesteadSkills Жыл бұрын
Ok, Yes...you should debubble. I am guilty of forgetting this step often, but I know when I can get away with it, and in this case, blanching first removes a lot of air, and the liquid level was still great when I took them out of the canner...so no harm...but Yes one should debubble to insure that you have the correct headspace.

Marks' receipe white cream sauce. Could you share it please. It sounds delishious!!
@HerHomesteadSkills
@HerHomesteadSkills Жыл бұрын
white sauces are fairly basic...he makes a rue..which is: melt butter and add a small amount of flour...stir in and let it very slightly brown....add milk or cream and it will thicken immediately so stir at the same time...Mark likes to add a bit of sugar when using milk instead of cream..even though we use only whole milk...that is your basic white sauce...from there you add ingredients and spices to taste, depending on what you are making. (cheddar cheese if you are making homemade mac and cheese) etc.

Thank you for this video. I am new to canning and am trying to learn as much as possible before getting started. You said that you can the liquid as well. wow...I used to have the most amazing rhubarb patch...It produced so much, I had to give most of it away...If you have a spot to plant a bit of rhubarb root, it may take a year to establish itself, and perhaps the second year to really start producing...but it will give you rhubarb for the next 20 years or so.
