EXCELLENT WORK, BUT PLEASE ADD SOMETHING TO SHOW, THAT WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF NON PRESSURE COMPENSATED FLOW CONTROL VALVE IS USED. SO THE IMPORTANCE OF USING PRESSURE COMPENSATED FLOW CONTROL VALVE WILL BE UNDERSTOOD. LIKE SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON OF BOTH FLOW CONTROL VALVES

Very informative, thanks. Would you happen to know a device that would drop the pressure from 3000psi to 1500psi, flow isn't important

pardon my comment but... i would say that the little error that appears when you strive from the design value is due to the non consant force from the string rather than the preassure loss in the path. (there's no fluid speed in that path). The secret for this valve to work is that magic string wich force isnt F= k * (l-l0) but simply F=k.

What software do you use for the animations? I teach at a college and could really use this type of software in my lectures. Your series of technical videos are very well done.

It seems to me that this system would be efficient when the pressure at the motor approaches the pressure compensator set pressure. If this system is flowing 10gpm through a 1,000 psi drop across the valve, the energy loss is 10*1,000/1714 = 5.8 HP = 14,842 BTUs/Hr heat added to the fluid. Can the pressure compensator reference to motor pressure, rather than pump discharge pressure, to make these values run closer together to minimize the pressure drop across the flow control valve, and reduce the amount of work dissipated as heat?

Orifice eqn says Q=A (delta p)^0.5 area and delta p constant so flow becomes constant

Hi Karl would this valve only ever be used with a fixed displacement pump or are there applications where you would have it inline with a variable displacement pump? Brandan

How is the source pressure(2000psi) not changing, while changing the resistance of motor? Please describe.

How flow rate can vary if the pump is positive displacement ? Positive displacement pump are those who maintain constant flow rate even though pressure changes.

It's assumed there is a relief valve upstream of this, or the positive displacement pump is also pressure compensated to vary flow rate.

I guess, Flow would be there, but the flow would be as in the case of non compensating valve

So if the oil supply is via a gear pump, what happens to the excess flow?

it would go through the pressure relief valve that is setting the supply pressure

Why use this option as long as if the pressure exceeds it's limit the relief will open and thus reduce the flow rate

Remember, flow restriction increases the pressure which helps to act on the spring. Reduction in pressure increases the flow (vol/ time)
