Pressure Washer Rebuild

Rebuild of Excell pressure washer pump. This is an Excell XR2750 pressure washer that was leaking. I go through what needs to be done to rebuild the pump. This particular pump needed new pistons as well as new seals. The pump has a swash plate to actuate the pistons. This pump is also referred to as a plunger pump. The manufacturer of the pump is Annovi Reverberi and they have a good selection of parts if you search online.

Aweome! Just what I needed!!! To put it back together, get a longer bolt of the same thread. Put two opposite eachother and use them to suck the pieces together, then put in the other two actual bolts now that it is pulled together 😊

Thanks for a good video but a small complaint...at 10:30 you show the pump halves oriented one way...then at 10:34 you have flipped it over without showing "how" you did that without any pieces falling off or about...it would be more instructive to show "each" move you make all through the process, but overall a very helpful video. Sorry about not including that portion of the work in the video - I just kept pressure holding it together (not closed all the way, just enough to keep it from falling apart) as I turned it over. You just need to keep enough pressure on the two pieces to keep the piston plungers in far enough that they don't come out of their holes. I used both hands but very little force was required. Once again, I apologize for the late feedback on your comment. I'm still learning the system on youtube.

I just got the same excel pump. I bought it from a friend. The brass assembly on top leaks water and then after letting water run thru. I started the engine and the water just stopped running out. You made it look simple. I wish there was a little more detail about fixing it. But you did a great video. Do you think if I clean it up like you did and replaced the new washers and parts that I should be fine ??? Thank you very much

I think you can get it going again. Once you get it apart you will have to assess which parts need to be replaced. Just take your time and don’t get in a hurry. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Good luck with the repair!

Rebuilding a very similar style pump on a Delta DT 2200 Power Washer. Thanks for the detailed instruction. One tip on cleaning that corrosion and build-up in lower pump brass section. I got some gel type Calcium,Lime, and Rust remover from our local dollar store. Two bottles worth ($2) in a plastic tub. Let the housing and brass parts sit for about 10 minutes in gel. No more build-up. Rinse with clean water. Use gloves and glasses when using that gel. It's acidic and does burn a bit on bare skin.

I've got a Excell 2100 psi pressure washer made by Devilbiss for Sears B&S Quantum engine says to use R&O 150 weight oil in the water pump housing. This pressure washer is like 25 years old the pump oil was original when I finally lost a high pressure pump seal, opened it up, was like gray color from all the moisture over the years, and assuming some water leaked into the pump when the seal went. R&0 150 is equivalent to 40W oil, think I'm going to just use 10w-40 diesel oil. The non detergent thing has minerals in to keep corrosion down, but since changing the oil more frequently in the pump just makes sense regular engine oil especially synthetic should help keep heat down in this area. You can also buy additives for regular oil to add minerals regular oil to make the mineral content high to protect against corrosion as well wear.

I have the same pump, but having a hard time finding the pistons. Mine are trashed, low friction coating chipped off. I bought new seals, and valves, but can't find the pistons. I have one squash plate follower that is slightly damaged too. Piston probably got stuck in bore, and slammed back.

Do a google search on Annovi Reverberi piston and you will see some pop up. I got my from ebay. I think my piston kit came with new swash plate followers (brass).

At 8:57 the brass tops for the pistons that contact the swash plate. I cannot find the name of them and i need a new set. Hope that you see this message as i am running out of ways to find this part.

That brass part comes with the piston, but I did find it in the parts diagram and they call it a plunger shoe.

Thanks for the great video. I have the same pressure washer pump so this video was very useful. I am getting water in the crankshaft and it is mixing with the oil to form a gray mixture. The pump is still working but I want to fix this before something breaks. What parts do you think I need to replace? Thanks.

Water is getting past the piston seals, so you will need to replace those. Water leakage is supposed to drain out before getting into the oil, so the oil seals on the pistons are likely bad too. I would recommend tearing it down and then assessing the parts. Could be that you need new pistons too. But you won’t really know until you get it apart.

John...a question...I'm rebuilding the exact pump in todays "real time," like right now. I have a reattached right arm and hand after a motorcycle crash 20 yrs ago, and don't have the strength or use of both hands to compress the springs. Do you have any suggestion on how I might compress them working alone, or my neighbor is willing to help me when I can catch him home. But I can't work it in my head how a bench vise might help, or what other tool would enable me to do this ?? Can you help ? Thanks, Stephen

Sorry for the late reply Glenn-just now saw your comment. I recommend having a second person to help with it. If you start compressing things in a large vise the joint between the two parts are a bit far apart and could pop out by accident. I think having your neighbor push the cover down while you put the bolts in is the way to go.

I has been quite a while since I bought those parts but I think it would have been about $150 to $200.
