I don’t know specifically where to comment to you, but genuine and heart-felt thanks for your work, your seemingly sincere agenda and your Jesus-like approach to study and sharing. It is all so refreshing and enlightening. God bless this great work.

Thank you! Maybe have like John B, C, D to pick up the cutting room floor...or Bible for older folks that do not process that fast. I love them and tell everyone, but i still have so many questions, and would love to know more about the culture. Like, maybe i missed it, but the coals on someone's head...i was told that people kept coals in a container so they could always have a way to start a cooking fire where they were going...so it was a true blessing if you freshened their coals. Others see it as heaping curses on them by being good to them, so it is opposite of what was meant, ugh!

Two of my favorite leaders in the church right now. Dr. Sprinkle has taught me how to better love myself as a gay man and learning to seek Christ as completion for my life. And Dr. Mackie has fueled my love for languages and has helped me fall in love with the Bible. Thank you both for helping me on my journey. Praying I get to meet one or both of you on this side of heaven

@@alexandergunn7311 Why is it a sin ? And if you intend to reference a quote from the bible please do proper due diligence and contextual research of the bible before you quote from it.

I am really really happy for you. It's about time the LGBT community found God. I dare say the God you find in the bible is probably closer to who God is than the God many "Christians" claim to believe in.

Alexander Gunn I actually agree as well that it’s a sin, but it’s responses like yours (angry caps rages) that make it difficult. I actually want to follow Yahweh, deny myself, live a life honoring to God (which looks like staying celibate for me). I just wonder why you felt it necessary to have the response that you did. I love Jesus and have spent the majority of my life single (and quite frankly, I’ve been miserably lonely as well). I don’t think you’d prefer for someone to throw in the towel and give in to temptation. I’m saying, my temptation is toward a relationship with a guy, but I’m not pursuing that. I use the word “gay” because it quickly shares how my natural attractions work, not to glorify anything. I want my life to bring glory to God, not myself. I don’t know what the Bible Project’s stance is. I imagine they are not PRO GAY!! But I hope, as followers of Jesus, that the team at Bible Project would love gay people. We are called to love the outcast, not continue to cast them out. Please realize your words have power and your words in particular have really caused me pain over the past couple of weeks because I want to edify you as a person. To stick to your guns about what the Bible says about same sex attraction, but we have to do it with love or else we risk making the most lovely person in history (Jesus) look unattractive to others. I pray this finds you well, my brother in Christ

Doesn't the bible says homosexuality is wrong?
@Inhumantics
@Inhumantics 4 жыл бұрын
There is no word for "homosexuality" in the Bible. It wasnt common back then. What was common was older men prostituting or taking advantage of young boys- read the story of Jesus and the Roman centurion. Some theologians argue that the boy Jesus healed was most likely the centurions's young lover. In context too, for the "male and female become one" thing: that was the start of a household. For a male to have sex with a male one male was thought to have been de-masculated, thus it shook up the current social system. Our social system today is very different. Everything has a context and an audience.

Yes it does. The Bible is VERY harsh toward homosexuals. It even called for them to be put to death in the Old testament part. It also talks about God killing a whole city of them.

Yes it does: Romans 1:25-27 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. 26For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.… Don’t let ANYONE convince you otherwise. It’s as clear as crystal what God’s Word says about homosexual relationships, from the Old Testament (Hebrew/Aramaic Scriptures) through the New Testament (Christian Greek Scriptures). Don’t allow yourself to get sucked in to the rebellious spirit that wants the Bible watered down and discarded as truth..

Tim has excellent points about women in church in this interview. Where can I find this addressed in the Bible Project videos/material?

They do not pick theological sides in the Bible Project, you won't find it. Tim is only answering it here because he is being asked for his stance directly.

Hi can you please elaborate on the mutuality of men and women I notice the verses that you brought up are very vague on women there are many verses in The Bible that state over and over and over that the man is the head of the woman and that that is why we have child bearing pains and we Well desire or husband and he shall rule over us. Though we do become one flesh in Christ we are not equal we are not meant to be the head because at the head of every man is Christ and at the head of every woman is man Furthermore this is proven by the verse A woman should learn in quietness and full submission submitting to our husbands as a woman's role it does not make us any less but it does make us unequal. I would love to hear a response for you because I am not being sarcastic in any way or arguing I am simply asking if you can elaborate more or biblically prove your point

Serious issues with Tim Mackie and his unscriptural perspectives on a variety of foundational tenets of the historic Christian faith. He is a left-leaning, progressive who supports “liberation theology,” an unbiblical view of hell, and other problematic concepts. The church currently finds itself in a very turbulent time and solid orthodoxy matters. Many who are immature in the faith are easily led into falsehood. Better to stick with the reliable teachings of the great Bible expositors of the past.
