i think this vid highlights a lot of points about why pking and the wildy is dead and/or needs work. The main one is the first kill, that guy was a very average pker: not decked out in bils, not ragging. very average setup. he risked 3m dying to you. I pk sometimes and kill rev bots, chin bots, pvm'ers, etc. the best consistenly decent drops is usually rev caves. average like 200-250k loot each kill. you usually dont get that much out here at the altar. the reason i give you these numbers is to do the math, how many kills to recover from a death? if you risk 3m on a death thats 15 kills to break even and thats if EVERY kill gets you 200k which usually wont be the case and doesnt take into account supplies. that means you could kill a dozen people, get GOOD loot from all of them, but if you die once you're now losing money. This is why so many people rag. I think a good idea is "item insurance" for pvp. maybe this could be done by talking to someone before you leave the enclave and they "insure" all your gear in your inv for a low enough price to entice people to bring more risk. You pay a percentage of whatever your risk is. I enjoy PKing but sometimes its so dead, so i start killing Rev bots which is still fun but its so much less fun to always rag them. like fck this dds, i want to use something fun like a korasi or claws but if i disconnect or die etc im losing like ~900 kills worth (30 hours +) of work for a single death.. ultimately fewer people will rag pk and it will probably even make people stop spec tabbing, safing, etc due to no more GIANT risk factor. to prevent abuse, your insurance will have a cap meaninig its not going to save you the same % on a 100k item vs a 100m item, and insurance rates go up if you die for a short period of time, making it not worth your time to abuse or at least not able to abuse on a large scale. like maybe you could make 200-300k an hour abusing this but theres other ways to make more money botting that people will do instead that are much more simple.

Honestly mate I completely agree, one of the biggest problems of pking nowadays is the power creep of the Best in slots weapons and gear, the best pkers are willing to risk these because they know with the skill gap + BIS gear, they're virtually unkillable to an average Joe like me, that's the reason why people don't want to risk 10-20m because there's no point, some giga-chad in 200m risk will just rinse them so it's sort of risk 1m or go full max because there isn't really a bracket to benefit from 'Mid-Tier' risk. I love hearing the hypothetical, especially that insurance thing, maybe you could have a scenario in the new bounty craters where you 'Buy in' your 20mill risk for example, and then you can only fight people risking a similar amount, then the winner gets the opponents gear (to include a gold sink into the game), however this kind of has the feel of duel-arena brid fights for money doesn't it and takes the edge off of wilderness pking ! I guess we will have to wait and see I love the randomness of the wilderness and the "Wrong place wrong time" aspect of it, I think that's what makes RuneScape great but there's gotta be some solutions to problems, maybe even, similar to the rev caves, you could have a buy in per life in the wildy, every time you die you would have to pay a fee to enter which is dropped on death which increases reflective of your combat level for example 50 combat - 50k 100 combat - 250k 126 combat - 500k At least that then enhances the risk/reward aspect of the wilderness, would encourage so many more people to actually pk and encourage players to use higher tier risk to secure more loot. At this stage I'm just rambling but great comment mate it got my head thinking 🤣😁

@@MinginRs yeah and who knows, maybe an economy tweak can fix it. think about the average player. the average player isnt constantly neckbeard sweating, soloing COX for 10m/hr to earn money. most people probably just AFK skill at while work (fishing, wc, mining) or maybe do vorkath or wyverns etc. On avergae most people are probably able to make close to 1m an hour. some more, others less. Who is going to be risking 160m korasi or 90m claws or 100m staff or even 10-15m zenyte items when those things will take 160 hours, 90 hours, 15 hours etc. to replace. I get it; they want people to buy bonds for gold etc. but the bond gold price is currently at like $1/m. Idk about you but im not rich. like yeah i have money but i dont got $130 to blow on a volatile orb, a single item in a video game. They either need to make the bond prices juicy af (like 100m for a $5 bond, which wont work because so many players wont be able to afford membership) or they need to adjust a LOT of item values. Right now it feels like pay-to-win especially if you want to have any interest in pvp. if youre a 60 attack pure who cant afford claws (90m) your next step down is literally a dds lmao.. they want people to just pull out their wallets, which im fine with lets put some money into this game, but then we gotta make the bonds into an intricate system where if you bought it with cash you sell it to an NPC for 100m or something then that NPC puts it on the GE for 5m or whatever the bond price is, so it doesnt screw regular players over from getting their bonds. or they need to adjust a LOT of item values, essentially making everything in terms of weapons and armor 10-20m maximum, and if they release new best-in-slot in the future, make it like 100m+. That way everyone can enjoy the items they know and love and pk freely without needing to worry about 90+ hours of work being gone, and also gives jagex a market to create new bis that is very costly. they can make more $$$ and most players will likely be fine with 15m claws and 20m voidwaker.. obviously this solution would require much more planning and finese, i like the idea about the bonds ^
