I remember - 15yrs old in my friend's bedroom, we were talking about how my aunt (7yrs older than me) used to wake me up when I was a kid as she's coming back from a rave. She would turn on Children of the Night and give me a glow show. My friend and I searched "Rave" on KZbin and found Pretty Rave Girl. We then turned to each other and decided we were going to find a rave and go that weekend. This song is so nostalgic for me. It started my raving years (which wound up being many years of drug abuse) and thus started many years of memories and feelings I'll never forget. Clean and sober now (31yrs old) for 3yrs.

@initech-employee Honestly, what I've come to realize is... well that saying is very true. "You regret the risks you don't take, more than the ones you do." Despite my aunt being so close in age, we are/were VERY different people when it comes to our interests. By the time I started raving she was long done and was already out 90% of the time with her boyfriend. So I had the same situation as you. Don't let that hold you back. Start out small if you aren't comfortable. Buy small pieces and just add it to your regular wardrobe. Slowly start adding things. Eventually (VERY quickly) you will see that no one really cares. It helps make you you. Wear what you want, and embrace your individuality. Express yourself through your wardrobe. And wear it while you can! Your metabolism slows waaaay down in your late 20s, so if you don't try it out now, you may not get the chance to fit into what you want to wear later. Trust me, I was full on cosplaying at anime conventions, wore emo/rave clothes to school every single day. I didn't give 2 shits. It made me who I am today. People .ay have things to say here and there, but what does that do? Absolutely nothing. Because you are and will be far more unique and interesting than their conforming selves. These are the years that help you develop your own self identity. It's your time to experiment, and help you explore what you do and do not like. What you do and do not stand for, and experience many things. The experiences you have now will help form who you become. So delve in, and keep an open mind. Don't let anyone scare you into missing out. And if your parents have something to say - then just change in the washroom at school LOL

I am unfortunately not part of your generation. I was born in 2003 in the US and was raised in Guatemala until I was 6. I don't think we were in our emo phase at the same, but even without that, I can feel the memories you all have.
