Thank you so much Kate for this tutorial on simple updo! I had my hairstylist view the video and then do my hair because I did not trust myself. I had this done for my son's wedding. It turned out beautiful, not quite as messy looking as yours, but she did a great job! My hair is very fine and a little shorter than yours. My hairstylist teased the hair and used a lot of hairspray before beginning, just to keep all the hair in place. It turned out for a good thing to use the hairspray because the wedding was outside, a little windy, on a lake and humid being Florida. Thanks again!

I'm 48, I've never been able to do my own hair, I just never got how other did it. Thank you for your easy and understandable videos! I had no idea how pins hold that well, they never worked for me until now! I have had so many comments since seeing your videos! Thanks!

I love this look. At 61, I've always worn my hair smooth, plus it tends to do that anyway so this has been fun to do these messy updos! They are chic and give a softened look so things don't look look severe. Love learning from you. Hugs from Texas. Jane

So very cute. Love this idea. You have made me comfortable doing my own hair and feeling confident about it. Thanks so much Kate.

I watched your video and when I tried to recreate it I found I had to make some modifications. Instead of 3 ponytails, I made 3 buns and then worked the top section into twists which I pinned around the tri-buns. It came out beautiful!

Thank you so much for this tutorial for an easy up-do for thicker hair. My hair is very thick and fine, but I believe I could actually make this work for me. I have learned so much from your tutorial. Absolutely loving them!

I really like your tutorials! They are very wearable styles! Also, I find that a lot of updo tutorials don't address the "prep" work of getting started-I love that you talk directly to this.

I tried this this morning and have gotten so many compliments at work! Thanks for awesome tips! Do not listen to those haters on here.

First, love this hair style; absolutely fabulous and second, great tutorial. Some styles can be challenging for me due to my fine hair. However, after applying a few of my favorite Kenra products, I was successful in creating an ample amount of texture and volume to rock this style before going to work one day. Just wanted to say thank you for posting this video because I received so many compliments from my co-workers.

Thank you so much for this idea!! This is the first updo I've tried and done with my thick curls without crying. It is simple enough, and works so well :) I would have never thought of the smaller pony tails.

Woo this is great! I have medium long length hair with short short layers and this is perfect because I can get ALL my hair tucked out of my face. It's a great way to get hair away without just putting it in a ponytail/bun thing, and I love that I didn't loose any volume. yay!

I love this. Thank you so much. It helps to section hairs because on thick hairs it is hard to hold them with only one in place. I never thought of it. Great job. 👍

I just love your tutorials! You make it look so easy. I'll have to give it a try and report back. Where do u find the clear elastics. I can only find the clear ones that are really small and super tight! I can hardly get 2 fingers in them much less make a loop. Ripped my cuticle trying to use one yesterday, ouch! Maybe Salley's? I've only checked drugstores-target, Walgreens, etc.

Very cute! You always make doing hairdos easy! I'm going to try this just as soon as I get some decent bobby pins - mine were cheap and keep falling out! LOVE your ideas that are "do-able" for non-hair people like me. I think you could rat your hair all over and leave it at that and be pretty though! Love you, Susan

This is a modern take on ClassicRetroGlamour's vintage inspired updo (removed for copyright I think)....yours is softer & less coifed - which is very now. Hers was sleek & pinuppy. I use this often as I'm growing my hair out & it gives me the look of "more". :) Great vid as always!

I have never had issues with jaw clips "creasing" my hair unless my hair is damp or wet... I have always used jaw clips. I was tempted to buy duck bill clips, but I'm just sticking with jaw clips for now. Great tutorial though.

Hey Kate, have you ever thought about posting a blooper reel pulled together from several tutorials? Maybe Lauren can make a few cameos too? You've got such a great sense of humor and you make hair look SO easy -- it would be so great for us amateurs to see that sometimes even the pros make mistakes. =D

This is so cute, but am I the only one who has security issues with bobby pins? They stress me out so much because I just know I'm going to lose a bunch during the day & come home looking like a hot mess because I lost half my updo - & I don't want to spend half the day in the bathroom replacing lost pins, either! Are there some magical bobby pins out there that just don't fall out?
